Late night begins the week in holiday mode, with Labor Day keeping most shows in repeats Monday night. But the post-summer restart begins in earnest Tuesday, as Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, The Daily Show, and Watch What Happens Live all return with new episodes.
This week also brings a pair of late-night-adjacent returns to the lineup: CNN’s Have I Got News for You and the U.K. edition of Saturday Night Live.
Here’s who’s on and off the week of September 7, 2026:
Jimmy Kimmel Live!
On, starting Tuesday. Jimmy Kimmel is back from his annual summer vacation this week, with Jimmy Kimmel Live! returning with originals Tuesday night.
Kimmel welcomes Andrew Garfield and Joey King on Tuesday, followed by Mariska Hargitay and Kaia Gerber on Wednesday. Gal Gadot closes out the week Thursday.
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon
On, starting Tuesday. Jimmy Fallon is also back this week, with The Tonight Show returning to first-run episodes after a two-week break,
Fallon welcomes Sandra Bullock and Mike D on Tuesday, followed by Matthew McConaughey, Alix Earle, and Riley Green on Wednesday. Nicole Kidman, Domhnall Gleeson, and Leon Bridges visit Thursday.
Comics Unleashed
Gone. Both nightly installments of Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen airing in CBS’ late-night block remain in repeats this week. New episodes are set to begin airing again in the show’s first half hour on September 21.
Funny You Should Ask
Gone. The second hour of Byron Allen’s CBS late-night block also remains in repeat mode. Funny You Should Ask is set to begin airing first-run episodes in its first half hour on September 21.
Late Night with Seth Meyers
Gone. Seth Meyers remains off this week as Late Night continues its seven-week summer break. The show is scheduled to return with new episodes September 21.
Nightline
On. ABC’s late-night newsmagazine is scheduled to continue airing new episodes this week.
The Daily Show
On, starting Tuesday. The Daily Show returns from its August hiatus this week with three new episodes. Jon Stewart is scheduled to host Tuesday, with Michael Kosta taking over Wednesday and Thursday.
Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen
On, starting Tuesday. Andy Cohen’s Bravo clubhouse reopens this week, with new editions of Watch What Happens Live scheduled Tuesday through Thursday. Carole Radziwill and Daisy Toye visit Tuesday, followed by Ariana Biermann, Gia Giudice, and Ava Dash on Wednesday. Jennifer Pedranti and Alyssa Farah Griffin close out the week Thursday.
Gutfeld!
On. Gutfeld! is scheduled to continue with new episodes this week.
Real Time with Bill Maher
On. After a quick one-week break, Bill Maher returns Friday with a new episode of Real Time Friday night.
Last Week Tonight with John Oliver
Gone. John Oliver remains off this week, with Last Week Tonight scheduled to return Sunday, September 20.
Have I Got News for You
On. CNN’s U.S. edition of Have I Got News for You returns with its Season 5 premiere this week, joining the post-Labor Day late-night restart.
Saturday Night Live UK
On. Saturday Night Live UK also re-joins the late-night lineup this week, making its Series 2 return with host Jeff Goldblum (a two-time host of SNL proper) and musical guest CMAT.

Gone. No change here: Saturday Night Live remains on summer hiatus after closing out Season 51 in May. The show is set to kick off Season 52 on September 26, 2026, with repeats continuing in the meantime.
