Foo Fighters Set Four-Night Jimmy Kimmel Live! Residency

First on LateNighter: Foo Fighters are settling in at Jimmy Kimmel Live! next week.

The band will serve as Kimmel’s musical guest for four consecutive nights, performing on the ABC late-night show Monday, Oct. 26 through Thursday, Oct. 29. Frontman Dave Grohl will also sit down with Jimmy Kimmel for an interview Monday night.

The residency comes six months after Foo Fighters released their 12th studio album, Your Favorite Toy, on April 24. The band is currently in the midst of a world tour supporting the record.

It won’t be Foo Fighters’ first time taking over a late-night show for a full week.

In October 2014, the band staged a five-night residency on Late Show with David Letterman to promote its then-new album Sonic Highways and the companion HBO documentary series of the same name.

Rather than simply play a Foo Fighters song each night, the band used the week to spotlight some of the musicians and music that had inspired the Sonic Highways project. Zac Brown joined them for a cover of Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs,” Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart performed “Kick It Out” with the band, and Tony Joe White sat in for “Polk Salad Annie.”

The Foos also found time to get involved in the comedy. In one sketch, the band members appeared as attorneys for the fictional firm Grohl, Hawkins, Mendel, Shiflett, Smear and Associates, promising to help viewers in their legal fight against “foo.”

Next week’s stint will bring considerably more Foo Fighters than Jimmy Kimmel Live! viewers are accustomed to. Despite Grohl’s many appearances on the show over the years—including a memorable turn guest-hosting as David Letterman for Halloween in 2017—the band itself has only performed on Kimmel three previous times: in 2003, 2020, and 2021.
