The Daily Show Returns Tonight, With Fallon and Meyers Still Dark

Comedy Central’s The Daily Show is back in action after a week-plus break, with Jon Stewart and Ronny Chieng sharing anchor duties.

The Daily Show thus joins ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! and CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in airing original episodes this week. (NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Late Night With Seth Meyers, meanwhile, both have a week left to go on their respective hiatuses.)

Stewart kicks things off tonight with guests Aziz Abu Sarah and Moaz Inon, co-CEOs of InterAct International and co-authors of The Future Is Peace: A Shared Journey Across the Holy Land (hitting bookstores Tuesday).

Senior correspondent Chieng takes over hosting duties Tuesday. He’ll first welcome filmmaker Bao Nguyen, who’s promoting his recently premiered Netflix documentary, BTS: The Return.

On Wednesday, Chieng is set to sit down with Zoe Lister-Jones, of the newly released Peacock comedy The Miniature Wife. And on Thursday, his guest is Lee Sung Jin, creator of the Netflix series Beef, which drops Season 2 that morning.

In addition to being part of The Daily Show‘s host rotation (this week marks his second cycle of 2026), Chieng earlier this year wrapped his “Hasan Hates Ronny | Ronny Hates Hasan” comedy tour with former TDS correspondent Hasan Minhaj. (They’re set to perform two more shows at the Netflix Is a Joke Fest this May.)

The Daily Show airs weeknights at 11 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central, with episodes streaming the following day on Paramount+.

  1. Mark Anderson says:

Kimmel will be must-see TV tonight.

Rumors are swirling that Kimmel will grovel and apologize for endorsing quasi-rapist, Eric Swalwell (D), for governor of California on his low-rated show a few months ago.

Kimmel will be forced to address his relationship with his good friend and quasi-rapist, Eric Swallwell (D), so tune into more Kimmel crying tonight.

    1. Corrie-luv says:

Well, you were right about one-thing: Kimmel (and by extension Colbert and Stewart) are must-see TV

However, I wouldn’t count on hearing any Swalwell resignation reactions, especially since he wasn’t the ONLY major Congressman to step away from a position in recent news (AHEM TX Rep Tony Gonzalez (R) and his own allegations of sexual misconduct); terrible actions are not exclusive to just one party, as demonstrated by a Republican resignation~

That, coupled w/AI Trump as Jesus meme and his terrible excuse post-deletion, his attacks on the Pope of all public figures and the failure of Iran talks by JD Vance, yea there will be no tears tonight, unless you mean tearing the seams of a senile figure and his cabinet of incompetent sycophants, the real people in power~😝

      1. Mark Anderson says:

Except only one of them are very close friends with quasi-rapist, Eric Swalwell (D). Kimmel not only endorsed Swalwell, but has contributed to his campaign to become rapist Governor of California.

So, yes, Kimmel has to address why he has a close and personal and intimate relationship with quasi-rapist Swalwell.

And Kimmel is the only one that has a late night show to address these accusations.

      2. He didn't know, Mucky Boy! says:

But let’s talk about your lord and master Drumpf raping all those teenage girls with Jeffrey Epstein! As bad as Swalwell is, Drumpf is far, far worse!

        You hypocrite much, Mucky Boy?

      3. Mark Anderson says:

Were they raping with Bill Clinton or was it more like Gavin Newsom and his wife raping girls and women with Harvey Weinstein?

      4. Look at Mucky Boy, peoples! says:

Desperately trying to throw names out there of people who’ve already had to suffer for their indiscretions, while not saying anything about the pedo in chief!

You’re so fucking lame and pathetic, Mucky Boy! That’s why your Dear Toddler and you MAGAts are all underwater and drowning! You’re all weird and fucked up!

    2. Corrie-luv says:

You’re not looking at the bigger picture and weirdly fixating on one relationship when it’s really a systematic one

You do realize Kimmel isn’t the be-all, end-all of political influence cuz he’s… well an entertainer first? Probably not to you, but still…

I’m sure he privately regrets giving Swalwell a platform, but once again you can’t have it both ways and ignore the other media outlets (especially those right-leaning) doing the exact same thing and not taking accountability either~

In the same way, Kimmel doesn’t owe you his feelings and personal regrets on the situation just to make yourself feel better about one flawed politician you hate, even tho his fellow, more powerful Republicans are much, muuuuuuch worse in reputation~
