It’s a feat only 81 other Saturday Night Live cast members have pulled off: with tonight’s episode, Marcello Hernández crossed the 200-sketch milestone.
That’s according to Jon Schneider and Mike Murray of The Saturday Night Network, LateNighter’s podcast partner.
Hernández’s drop-in during Finn Wolfhard’s opening monologue was the one that put him over the top.
The fourth-year SNLer is the ninth member of the current cast to appear in 200 sketches, after Michael Che, Mikey Day, Andrew Dismukes, Chloe Fineman, Colin Jost, Sarah Sherman, and Kenan Thompson (who recently celebrated his 1,800th sketch).
Hernández made his SNL debut on October 1, 2022, appearing that night’s ManningCast cold open doing “the Gritty.” He is now the only member of his four-person freshman class who remains on the show, following the departures of Devon Walker and Michael Longfellow at the start of this season, and Molly Kearney (who left in 2024).
Lest you think there’s a direct correlation between one’s tenure on the show and their sketch count, there are quite a few SNL cast members who made it to this point in their tenure without hitting the 200-sketch milestone—including the likes of David Spade, Mike Myers, Adam Sandler, and Bowen Yang.
On the flip side, there are also a handful of cast members who surpassed 200 sketches in less time than Hernández, including Bill Hader, Andy Samberg, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Jon Lovitz, Dana Carvey, Phil Hartman, and Chris Farley.
