Finn Wolfhard‘s Saturday Night Live debut was turned Upside Down when two of his Stranger Things castmates joined him on-stage at Studio 8H.
Leading out of the midseason premiere’s Cold Open—which featured James Austin Johnson’s Trump, Jeremy Culhane succeeding Bowen Yang as J.D. Vance, Ashley Padilla’s Kristi Noem, and Colin Jost’s Pete Hegseth—first-time host Wolfhard jogged onto the main stage and launched into a monologue about how “400 million people got to watch me go through puberty” across five seasons/ten years of Stranger Things.
The topic then turned to Wolfhard, now 23, graduating to acting adulthood with Stranger Things‘ end.
“Meet the new me, the man me,” he said after sharing a ceremonial “first drink” with Marcello Hernandez. “Stranger Things is over and I’m not a kid anymore.”
“And neither are we!” chimed in Stranger Things co-stars Gaten Matarazzo and Caleb McLaughlin, joining Wolfhard on-stage.
As they reunited, Wolfhard thanked “everyone who watched us grow up on the show— “
“—and then went online to comment on our changing faces and bodies,” quipped McLaughlin.
The three then raised a glass as Wolfhard toasted: “To us, child stars—who are now ready to do adult films!”
Phrasing, man!
Of note, Wolfhard does have a bit of SNL history in his recent past, having appeared as an NBC page in Jason Reitman’s 2024 biopic, Saturday Night.
SNL continues Season 51 next Saturday with newly minted Golden Globe winner Teyana Taylor (One Battle After Another) as host, and musical guest Geese. Alexander Skarsgård follows as host on January 31, with musical guest Cardi B.
