Saturday Night Live will return from its Winter Olympics break with one red-hot hockey player as host.
Connor Storrie, who plays Moscow-born Boston Raiders captain Ilya Rozanov on the pop culture phenomenon Heated Rivalry, is set to make his SNL hosting debut February 28, with musical guest Mumford & Sons.
As it happens, SNL very recently spoofed Heated Rivalry with a pre-taped sketch that mashed up Harry Potter with the series about hockey players in love/lust.
Storrie’s star has been on the rise ever since the hockey/romance series made its debut in late November on Canada’s Crave and Stateside on HBO Max. Most recently, he made his late-night debut on NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers, presented at the Golden Globes with Heated Rivalry scene partner Hudson Williams, and served as a Winter Olympics torch bearer with Williams.
SNL Season 51 kicked off October 4 with host Bad Bunny and musical guest Doja Cat. They were followed by franchise vet Amy Poehler and musical guest Role Model, and then Sabrina Carpenter pulling double duty.
The next batch of three featured Miles Teller/Brandi Carlile, Nikki Glaser with sombr, and then Glen Powell/Olivia Dean.
SNL closed out 2025 with Melissa McCathy joined by musical guest Dijon, followed by the veddy British combo of Josh O’Connor/Lily Allen, and then Ariana Grande and Cher–in a Christmas episode that marked cast member Bowen Yang’s swan song.
Up first in 2026 was Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard with musical guest A$AP Rocky, followed by Academy Award nominee Teyana Taylor with Geese, and then this weekend’s Alexander Skarsgård/Cardi B.
Ratings-wise this season, the Ariana Grande/Cher combo delivered not just a season high but SNL’s best Christmas ratings since 2020. On the flip side, the Miles Teller episode notched an all-time low opposite an 11-inning World Series finale.
