Seth Meyers is ready for another round of drinks—with a side of comedy. On Tuesday, September 10, actor and comedian Kevin Hart will join the Late Night with Seth Meyers host for his signature “Day Drinking” segment.
“Day Drinking” has been a recurring Late Night segment since 2015, debuting only a year after Meyers began hosting. Past drinking buddies have included celebrities like Kristen Stewart, Dua Lipa, The Jonas Brothers, and, most recently, Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
The segment is exceptionally popular, with Rihanna’s famous 2019 episode currently sitting at 22 million views on YouTube. Meyers has jokingly lamented in the past that because all the drinking depicted on camera is real, it’s not a bit he can repeat too often.
“I wake up the morning after every taping of ‘Day Drinking’ in a terror, I think the way I used to after a college party,” he said in an interview with IndieWire in June. “I’m like, ‘Whoa, what did I say!? Was I cool!? I felt cool yesterday and now I feel dumb.’ Thank God they’re taped, because otherwise it would be the lamest shit in the world for somebody as cool as Kristen Stewart to spend the afternoon with a 50-year-old man.”
While this is the first time Hart is participating in the “Day Drinking” segment, he and Meyers go way back. The actor stopped by Late Night in 2019 to chat about Night School, Soul Plane’s box-office bomb status, and why he credits “bootleggers” for his successful career.
Meyers has a big week ahead. On Wednesday, he’ll host a live, one-hour primetime special, Closer Look Primetime, which is set to focus on the first presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.
Meyers’ “Day Drinking” segment with Hart will air on Late Night with Seth Meyers Tuesday, September 10, at 12:37 a.m. ET on NBC. Closer Look Primetime airs live Wednesday, September 11 at 10 p.m. ET on NBC, streaming on Peacock the next day.
