Seth Meyers is re-teaming with close pal and Saturday Night Live co-star Andy Samberg, this time in animated form.
The Late Night host revealed he’ll guest-star in Season 2 of Samberg’s Comedy Central series Digman! during this week’s episode of their Lonely Island and Seth Meyers Podcast.
“I’m on Digman! this year, guys,” Meyers announced. “And it was so much fun.”
Samberg stars as Rip Digman, a swaggering archaeologist—or “arky,” in the show’s lingo—in a world where archaeologists are treated like action heroes. The role was heavily inspired by Samberg’s Nicolas Cage impression from Saturday Night Live, a connection he confirmed during a 2023 visit to Late Night.
Meyers, a longtime fan of the series, gave it his stamp of approval on the podcast: “If you want to hear Andy sound like Nic Cage while it’s a comedy Raiders of the Lost Ark, I feel like it’s right up your alley.”
Digman! premiered with an eight-episode season in spring 2023. Though renewed that May, the show’s return was delayed by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes that extended through the fall. Season 1 didn’t arrive on streaming until December 2023—months after its original run.
The series has flown somewhat under the radar, peaking midway through its first season when an episode simulcast on MTV drew roughly 250,000 viewers.
Samberg co-created Digman! with Brooklyn Nine-Nine alum Neil Campbell and executive produces the series alongside Lonely Island collaborators Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone through their production company, Party Over Here.
Meyers is no stranger to animation himself—he previously produced the superhero comedy The Awesomes for Hulu with Late Night showrunner Mike Shoemaker, which ran for three seasons from 2013 to 2015.
Digman! returns Wednesday, July 9, at 10:30 PM ET/PT on Comedy Central. Season 1 is now streaming on Paramount+.
