Seth Meyers’ bet with a crew member is still on, but one side is threatening to raise the stakes.
The wager, predicated on an upcoming showdown between rivals the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New York Jets, was first revealed by Meyers on Corrections several weeks ago. If the Jets win, the Late Night host will have to keep a mug with the score on his desk for the remainder of the season. If the Steelers win, Late Night utility grip Kenny Coyle will get the score tattooed on his wrist alongside Meyers’ signature.
A week later, Meyers noted that his opponent had offered to up the stakes. While that didn’t pan out, a new wrinkle has emerged.
“Things are not going well for either team,” Meyers noted on this week’s Corrections. “Kenny and I are both a little worried that the game is going to be a tie.”
Meyers asked his employee what the solution should be in that case, and the response was a little less than sensible.
“Kenny goes, ‘You gotta get my face tattooed on yours.’” Meyers said, rolling his eyes as he recounted the conversation.
Meyers is a noted Steelers fan, but has been openly doubtful of his team in recent weeks.
“I will say: Aaron Rogers was looking pretty good the other night,” Meyers admitted of the Jets’ quarterback several weeks ago.
The Jets face the Steelers on Sunday, October 20. With Late Night dark next week, the result of the game will be known by the next installment of Corrections in two weeks.
