Last week we reported that Seth Meyers and Late Night utility grip Kenny Coyle have entered into a bit of an uneven wager over an upcoming Jets-Steelers game: If the Jets win, Meyers (an avowed Steelers fan) will be forced to place a mug with the score on his TV desk through the end of the football season. If the Steelers win, Coyle (a diehard Jets fan) will get a tattoo with the final score and Meyers’ signature on his wrist.
As Meyers explained in a new episode of Corrections this week, both he and Coyle appear to be having second thoughts. But not in the way one might anticipate.
“Kenny set the terms,” Meyers reminded his viewers before revealing that the staffer approached him with an even more imbalanced bet.
“I wanna change the terms,” Coyle told Meyers. “If you win, I get two tattoos.”
Meyers stopped short of accepting the new terms, but it might not matter. As confident as the Late Night host is in the Steelers, he admitted to some doubts. “I will say: Aaron Rogers was looking pretty good the other night,” Meyers said of the Jets’ star quarterback.
Meyers first shared details of the bet with Late Night viewers on last week’s Corrections.
As uneven as the sides are, Meyers might still be getting the worse end of the deal. Recounting the bet to his wife, Alexi Ashe Meyers, she made a good point: “Won’t the mug make you so much angrier than the tattoo would make him?”
The Steelers take will on the Jets on October 20th. The Steelers have a 20-7 record against the Jets.
