Seth Meyers Returning to Guest on Colbert’s Late Show Halloween Night

LateNighter has learned what Seth Meyers plans to be for Halloween: a returning guest on The Late Show

According to this week’s guest lineup, released by CBS, Meyers will make his second-ever appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Thursday, October 31. He’ll seemingly command much of the episode’s screen time, as the only other slated guest is comedian Mohanad Elshieky, who will perform a stand-up set. Which is befitting, as Meyers will surely want to talk about his new stand-up special for HBO, Dad Man Walking, which debuted on Saturday.

While it’s not unusual to see one late-night host appear on another’s show—even across networks—this particular pairing is an interesting one. In part because Meyers apparently finds the whole thing weird. In April, while appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Meyers told Kimmel he finds it “unsettling to watch a talk show host as a guest on a different talk show.”

Also, it was less than five months ago, on June 12, 2024, that Meyers made his very first appearance on Colbert’s version of The Late Show. (And brought a little piece of Late Night with him when he shared some “Corrections” that Meyers’ own viewers had for Colbert.)

Clearly, the experience was a pleasant enough one for Meyers that he’s ready to repeat it just a few months later. For his part, Colbert has guested on Late Night with Seth Meyers just once before—back in 2014.

While Thursday will mark Meyers’ second visit with Colbert, he’s hardly a Late Show novice. Between 2008 and 2013, the former SNL writer and cast member made eight appearances on Late Show with David Letterman.
