Seth Meyers has scored one of the biggest gets in the world of celebrity interviews right now: a sitdown with Blake Lively.
Lively will guest on Late Night with Seth Meyers next Thursday May 1st, marking Lively’s first talk show appearance since becoming embroiled in a legal battle with Justin Baldoni, her co-star and director of the 2024 Netflix film It Ends With Us.Â
After the film’s release, Lively alleged Baldoni had sexually harassed her on set and initiated a smear campaign against her and her husband, Ryan Reynolds. When The New York Times published a report on Baldoni’s ‘smear machine,’ Baldoni filed suit against the outlet for libel, seeking $250 million. A lawsuit against Lively, Reynolds, and others soon followed.
The story has garnered massive media attention with every twist and turn. That even includes a rumor that it had caused a fallout between Lively and Taylor Swift after Lively was said to have invoked Swift’s name against Baldoni as a threat.
Lively hasn’t granted an interview to any television shows since the legal drama began, giving Late Night with Seth Meyers an exclusive.
Will Lively make reference to the ongoing drama during her chat with Meyers? Considering that proceedings between Lively and Baldoni are ongoing, perhaps not. But then again, Lively’s husband Ryan Reynolds—another player in the legal battle—made a thinly veiled reference the drama at SNL’s 50th anniversary special, so it’s not out of the realm of possibility.
As for why now, Lively will be promoting the film Another Simple Favor, a Paul Feig-directed black comedy that hits Prime Video the same day as her appearance.
Lively has guested on Meyers’ show twice before, but her May 1st visit will mark her first Late Night appearance in nearly nine years.
