Seth Meyers Fans Are Still Campaigning For Ben & Jerry’s Flavor

Stephen Colbert has his. Jimmy Fallon has had three. Heck, even Alec Baldwin‘s Pete Schweddy got his own “Schweddy Balls” Ben & Jerry’s flavor. So why not Seth Meyers?

It’s been a topic of discussion among fans of Late Night With Seth Meyers going back to at least 2019, and in 2021 Meyers joked about pitching the company himself.

“It would be called ‘A Closer Lick,’” he explained at the time. “And we’ve already mocked up what the container would look like. I sent this to them, and I’ve called their offices and left dozens of messages, and all that happened was one of their interns called me and said, ‘We already have a flavor named after you — it’s called Vanilla.’”

Three years later, Meyers still has yet to be honored with a Ben & Jerry’s flavor, but that doesn’t mean fans have given up.

“Them two Vermont nerds need to get it together and get Seth his flavor,” wrote one fan on a Meyers subreddit last week.

“We need ‘A Closer Lick,’ or something not as suggestive,” came one reply. “Cocoa-rections. Sounds just as suggestive,” added another. Other stand-out proposals included “Ice Cream Seth Can’t Eat” and “Ya Burnt (Brown Butter Ice Cream).”

The first Ben & Jerry’s flavor created in conjunction with a late night host was Stephen Colbert’s “Americone Dream,” which was first introduced back in his Colbert Report days and is still available in stores 17 years later. Fallon’s “The Tonight Dough” is also going strong after a decade, although his “Late Night Snack” and “Marshmallow Moon” flavors are no longer produced.

Other celebrities who’ve collaborated with the company include Chance the Rapper (“Mint Chocolate Chance”), Ava DuVernay (“Lights! Caramel! Action!”) and Phish (“Phish Food”).
