Sarah Sherman to Host Max Reality Series Human vs Hamster

Sarah Sherman can now add “reality TV show host” to her growing resumé. The Saturday Night Live cast member (aka Sarah Squirm) is set to host Max’s upcoming reality competition series, Human vs Hamster.

The quirky competition show will see 10 “extraordinary” hamsters face-off against teams of (human) contestants from across North America. Per the show’s official synopsis, the series will center on “the ultimate showdown, housed inside an epic hamster’s playground, seen through a child’s lens, where our human contenders and remarkable hamsters will battle it out in a series of wacky challenges” to determine “which species is superior.”

In a just-released trailer, Sherman (joined by sports commentator Kyle Brandt) declares, “Welcome to Human vs Hamster. The ultimate test for declaring the ultimate species. Who reigns supreme? Will it be human or hamster?”

The trailer also introduces viewers to the show’s resident “hamster expert,” TV personality Brian Balthazar (did you know hamsters sweat through their legs?), plus a number of its human contestants—including nurses, firefighters, and more.

This isn’t the first time Sherman has branched out from SNL. In September, she guest starred on General Hospital for a two-episode arc portraying Lois Cerullo’s (Rena Sofer) etiquette teacher—a dream come true for the soap opera super-fan.

Human vs Hamster is executive produced by Chip and Joanna Gaines (Roller Jam), along with Allison Paige, the President of Magnolia Network. The four episode series is set to drop Thursday, November 21 on Max and will air on The Magnolia Network over two consecutive Friday nights (November 22 and November 29).

Honestly, this might be the kind of escapism I desperately need right now. Sarah is hilarious on SNL. It looks like I could watch this with my kids, and that Brian Balthazar dude might teach them something.
