Late night is finally back in full force tonight after a scattershot three weeks surrounding the July 4th holiday that saw each of the network late-night shows take turns airing repeats.
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and Late Night with Seth Meyers all return from break tonight with their first new episodes since June. Their reentry follows a week in which Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Daily Show were the only traditional late-night shows producing new episodes (with Kimmel turning over hosting duties to guest host Anthony Anderson).
Kimmel’s summer-long parade of guest hosts continues this week with comedian Chris DiStefano helming the show tonight and Tuesday, and musician Jelly Roll hosting Wednesday and Thursday.
If the coming week has a theme, it’s sports, with each of the network late-night talkers welcoming guests set to appear on Wednesday’s ESPY Awards. Tonight alone, this year’s ESPYs host Shane Gillis visits Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Best Male Athlete nominee ‬â€Saquon Barkley of the Philadelphia Eagles drops by Fallon, while Stephen Colbert welcomes Stephen A. Smith.Â
Later this week will see other visits from the likes of Russell Wilson, Isaiah Hartenstein, Tony Hawk, and Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy.
Other headliners set to light up late-night this week include Joaquin Phoenix, Rachel Brosnahan, Kevin James, and Timothy Olyphant.
