Jimmy Kimmel Live! has named its next guest host. Longtime friend of the show Anthony Anderson will once again step behind the desk—following a weeklong hiatus.
Anderson is set to tape four episodes the week of July 7, airing Monday through Thursday. Like its network late-night counterparts, JKL will go dark the week prior, from June 30 through July 4, for the Independence Day holiday.
This marks a familiar return for Anderson, who has regularly subbed in during Kimmel’s past summer breaks—and even stepped up during unexpected moments. Last year, Anderson helmed the show’s first episode back after an assassination attempt on then-presidential candidate Donald Trump, opening the show with remarks addressing the event.
Once his July stint wraps, Anderson will have hosted JKL 24 times. He’s also one of the show’s most frequent guests.
His return continues Kimmel’s rotating summer slate of guest hosts. Mexican-born actor and Andor star Diego Luna kicked things off this week with a high-profile run that included a powerful monologue on immigration and a guest lineup featuring labor icon Dolores Huerta.
Anderson, for his part, was most recently spotted on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in an unannounced comedy segment alongside Cedric the Entertainer for Arby’s.
Six more celebrities are on deck to guest-host JKL this summer: Jelly Roll, Alan Cumming, Fortune Feimster, Chris Distefano, Nicole Byer, and Kumail Nanjiani. Dates for those episodes have yet to be announced.
Jimmy Kimmel is expected to return to his post after Labor Day.
