Real Time With Bill Maher Sets 2025 Premiere Date

Bill Maher is apparently done tuning out politics, with the comic set to return to his long-running weekly HBO series, Real Time with Bill Maher.

The long-running political late night-styled show will enter its 23rd season when it returns next Friday.

“An uncommon host in search of common ground,” a just-released trailer for the new season (above) touts.

Real Time’s last season ended in November, with Maher promising to turn his attention away from the political landscape for a while. “We have our wrap party after this, and then I’m not going to think about sh*t,” he said on the season finale.

Maher has kept busy during his time away from the show. He recorded his 13th HBO standup special in early December, which is set for release on HBO and Max on January 10th—just one week before Real Time comes back.

Maher has also consistently churned out episodes of his podcast, Club Random. Last year, he spun that podcast into a whole network, signing former ESPN anchor Sage Steele and comedian Matt Friend to their own shows.

Although Maher has said he plans to step back from his standup act, he appears to still be committed to his HBO series. Last year he signed a contract renewal with the premium cable channel that will see Real Time continue through at least 2026.

Real Time with Bill Maher returns Friday, January 17, at 10 PM ET on HBO. It will also be available to stream on Max, and will re-air Saturday at 8:00 PM ET on CNN.
