NBC’s late-night programming was preempted for Olympics coverage on Thursday, August 8, and ABC and CBS aired reruns of their respective shows.
CBS re-aired The Late Show‘s June 20, 2024 episode this past Thursday, and the telecast averaged 963,000 total viewers with 120,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s -17% and +1%, respectively, from the day before (also a rebroadcast); -16% and -20%, respectively, compared to the previous Thursday‘s Late Show (another rebroadcast).
At the same time, ABC aired a repeat of Jimmy Kimmel Live!‘s July 22, 2024 episode, and that telecast averaged 897,000 total viewers with 115,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +11% and -21%, respectively, from the day before (also a rebroadcast); -17% and -43%, respectively, from the Thursday prior (another rebroadcast).
Following The Late Show, CBS aired a repeat of After Midnight‘s June 10, 2024 episode, and that telecast averaged 385,000 total viewers with 94,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +1% and +45%, respectively, from the day before (also a rebroadcast); -11% and +54%, respectively from the previous Thursday’s After Midnight (another rebroadcast).
Following Kimmel, ABC aired a new episode of Nightline, and the 12:35 a.m. program averaged 575,000 total viewers with only 57,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s -6% and -41%, respectively, from the day before; +2% and -42%, respectively, from the previous Thursday’s episode.
The Daily Show‘s Thursday, August 8 episode averaged 294,000 total viewers with only 58,000 P18-49 at 11 p.m., per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s -31% and -24%, respectively, from Wednesday’s episode; -27% and -21%, respectively, from the previous Thursday episode. Guest host Michael Kosta welcomed comedienne Hannah Berner to the program this past Thursday.
