Late Night Ratings: Friday, November 8, 2024

Note: LateNighter’s daily ratings reports are drawn from Nielsen live-plus-same-day data and do not take include delayed and/or streaming views. They are generally posted on a two (business) day delay, which is how they are released by Nielsen.

On yet another repeat-filled Friday for late-night, CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon split first place on November 8 in the 11:35 p.m. time slot. Colbert took first in total viewers, while Fallon averaged the most adults 18-49.

CBS re-aired The Late Show‘s Oct. 14, 2024 episode this past Friday, and the 11:35 p.m. telecast averaged 1,436,000 total viewers with 160,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live plus same day data. That’s down -25% in total viewers and -33% among P18-49 from the night before (a new episode) plus -9% and -26%, respectively, from the week-ago telecast (a repeat). Kathy Bates and Pamela Anderson were Colbert’s guests on that Oct. 14 episode.

NBC re-aired The Tonight Show’s Oct. 30, 2024 episode this past Friday, and the 11:35 p.m. telecast averaged 1,013,000 total viewers with 178,000 P18-49. Friday’s telecast shed -5% in total viewers and -5% among P18-49 from the night before (a new episode), and -9% in total viewers, but remained flat among P18-49 from the week-ago telecast (another repeat). The Oct. 30 Tonight Show featured guests Salma Hayek Pinault, David Chang, and Kelsea Ballerini.

At the same time, ABC re-aired the Nov. 4 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! this past Friday, and the 11:35 p.m. telecast averaged 1,083,000 total viewers with 104,000 P18-49. That’s down -25% in total viewers and -27% among P18-49 from the night before (a new episode); -22% and -34%, respectively, from the week-ago telecast (also a repeat). Jimmy Kimmel Live!‘s Nov. 4 episode featured guests Freddie Freeman, Allison Janney, and musical guest Stevie Nicks.

Following The Late Show  repeat, CBS re-aired After Midnight’s Oct. 15, 2024 episode (featuring guests Rachel Bloom, Jim Rash, and Dylan Mulvaney), with the 12:37 a.m. telecast averaging 684,000 total viewers with a time slot-high 133,000 P18-49. That’s down -3% in total viewers and up +29% among P18-49 from the night before (a new episode), -1% and -14%, respectively, from the week-ago telecast (a repeat).

Elsewhere, NBC re-aired Late Night with Seth Meyers‘ Oct. 30 episode, with the telecast averaging 616,000 total viewers with 132,000 P18-49 at 12:37 a.m. That’s down -18% in total viewers but up +1% among P18-49 from the night before (a new episode), -7% and +13%, respectively, from the week-ago telecast (a repeat). Tom Hanks and Ina Garten were Meyers’ guests on the Oct. 30 Late Night episode.

Lastly, following Jimmy Kimmel Live!Nightline averaged 692,000 total viewers with only 61,000 P18-49 at 12:37 a.m. That’s down -9% in total viewers, -30% in P18-49 from the night before; -8% and -40%, respectively, from the week-ago Nightline episode.
