ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! kicked off this week with a dominant ratings performance against its late-night counterparts, delivering its largest P18-49 audience in seven weeks (since Sept. 30).
The Monday, Nov. 18 averaged 1,917,000 total viewers with 352,000 P18-49 at 12:12 a.m. ET, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. A Monday Night Football lead-in provided this past Monday’s Kimmel with a lift, as the show gained +41% in total viewers and a whopping +278% among P18-49 from the previous Monday’s episode (a low-rated Veterans Day episode without a football lead-in). Denzel Washington, and Phillipa Soo were Kimmel’s guests on Monday’s episode. Dwight Yoakam performed on the program.
CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert took second place on Monday, despite posting audience growth of its own. The Nov. 18 episode averaged 1,685,000 total viewers with 234,000 P18-49. That’s up +3% and +17%, respectively, from the previous Monday. Josh Brolin, and Kacey Musgraves were Colbert’s guests. Musgraves also performed on the program.
NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon averaged 1,263,000 total viewers with 129,000 P18-49 this past Monday at 11:35 p.m. That’s +5% but -39%, respectively, from the Monday prior. Cher, Zoey Deutch, and Gwen Stefani were Fallon’s guests. Stefani also performed on the program.
Moving ahead to 12:35 a.m., the Monday, Nov. 18 episode of NBC’s Late Night With Seth Meyers averaged 730,000 total viewers with only 83,000 P18-49. That’s -9% and -25%, respectively, from the previous Monday’s episode. Kristin Chenoweth, and Jimmy O. Yang were Meyers’ guests on the program.
Airing after The Late Show, After Midnight averaged 588,000 total viewers with 133,000 P18-49 on CBS. That’s +7% and +24%, respectively, from the previous Monday’s episode. Celeste Barber, Bob the Drag Queen, and Matt Rogers were Taylor Tomlinson’s guests.
Lifted by its Monday Night Football and Kimmel lead-ins, the Nov. 18 edition of Nightline averaged more than one million total viewers on Monday (1,008,000) with 197,000 P18-49 at 1:14 a.m. ET. That’s +44% and +319%, respectively, from the previous Monday episode (which didn’t have a MNF lead-in).
Lastly, Jon Stewart returned to his Monday Daily Show perch this week, and his Nov. 18 episode averaged only 527,000 total viewers with 91,000 viewers aged 18-49, per Nielsen live plus same day data. That’s a drop of -11% and -22%, respectively, from the most recent Monday Daily Show (also hosted by Stewart). Where Have All the Democrats Gone? author Ruy Teixeira was Stewart’s guest.
