Ben Marshall Has a New Gig: Kim Kardashian’s Beats Pill Assistant

We have yet to see much of Ben Marshall or his Please Don’t Destroy cohorts Martin Herlihy and John Higgins on Saturday Night Live’s Season 50 (unless you’re looking at who wrote each sketch). But that doesn’t mean the triple-threat writer-actor-comedian hasn’t been keeping busy.

“Each morning I rise with the songbirds, before the first light of dawn, ready for a day filled with endless promise and possibility,” Marshall explains, via voiceover, in a new spot for Beat by Dre. “But most of all music. It’s not just my job, it’s my calling.”

Marshall’s co-star in the new commercial? Fellow multi-hyphenate Kim Kardashian, who has partnered with the electronics company to reintroduce the Beats Pill—their first-ever speaker product, which was first released in 2012, then discontinued in 2021 (with a few modifications in between).

In the 70-second spot, Marshall serves as Kardashian’s “favorite” Pill assistant, whose job consists of following the reality star-turned-entrepreneur around all day and choosing just the right song to set the mood for whatever she is doing.

“I’m like a handsome mobile DJ,” Marshall explains as he watches Kim sleep, walk, work, exercise, and sunbathe. “The only thing deeper than my musical knowledge is my devotion to the goddess I am so privileged to serve.”

The Please Don’t Destroy trio has become something of a hot commodity in the advertising world, having recently signed on for collaborations with major brands like Allstate and Dunkin’. But Marshall, in particular, has kept even busier; in addition to his new promo for Beats by Dre, he was among the celebrities and influencers chosen to introduce Away’s new Softside luggage line. He also recently nabbed a guest role in the upcoming Season 2 of Rian Johnson’s Emmy-winning Poker Face, which airs on Peacock (and will feature fellow SNLers, past and present, including John Mulaney and Ego Nwodim.

Please Don’t Destroy, who regularly contribute their own branded shorts to SNL, joined the show at the start of Season 47 in 2021.
