Please Don’t Destroy knows how to get into the pumpkin spice season spirit. This fall, the SNL comedy troupe—which is made up of Ben Marshall, John Higgins, and Martin Herlihy—is once again joining forces with international coffee chain Dunkin’.
In a new video shared to social media, Marshall orders a Pumpkin Spice Signature Latte, only to find out from enthusiastic Dunkin’ employees that his drink comes with a “complimentary man from Boston.”
“How is this a promotion?” Marshall asks incredulously as his “complimentary man”—a guy named Mike, who performs tricks like a dog—trails after him. “Nobody is going to be OK with this. Do you guys just, like, keep a bunch of random guys back there?” The camera then pans to show Dunkin’ doing exactly that.
Keeping consistent with Please Don’t Destroy’s style of humor, the sketch is self-aware and unapologetically weird. “Kind of an odd new promotion but ok #dunkinpartner,” the Instagram caption reads. Their first Dunkin’ promo went live in June, marking the group’s first independent brand partnership.
The trio first began collaborating when they were students at NYU and subsequently went viral with sketch videos on TikTok and Twitter during the COVID pandemic. In 2021, they joined Saturday Night Live as writers; they continue to appear in pre-taped digital shorts as well. The group also co-wrote and starred in the 2023 Peacock feature film, Please Don’t Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain.
Outside of their Dunkin’ partnership, Please Don’t Destroy is keeping plenty busy ahead of SNL’s landmark 50th season. In September, the trio will be featured as one of the headlining acts in a week-long event celebrating the grand reopening of the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York City.
