Snoop Dogg will step into the world of late night for one big night to help NBC ring in 2026.
The rapper has signed on to host a New Year’s Eve special for the network, marking NBC’s return to live New Year’s programming after a one-year break. Dubbed Snoop Dogg’s New Year’s Eve, the variety program will go up against Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest on ABC.
Snoop Dogg will host the program live from Miami.
News of the special comes weeks after Snoop Dogg and his company, Death Row Pictures, signed a new development deal with NBCUniversal. The musician served as a coach on NBC’s The Voice last fall, and is set to take on that role again this coming season.
NBC opted not to produce a traditional live New Year’s Eve special to usher in 2025. Instead, the network aired a pre-taped Day Drinking with Seth Meyers New Year’s Special featuring a collection of previously-aired Late Night with Seth Meyers’ Day Drinking segments. NBC gave local stations the option of cutting away before the stroke of midnight to air coverage of live local celebrations or to stick with the show, which did its own pre-taped countdown, tongue firmly in cheek.
The Meyers special marked a shift from years past, which saw Carson Daly host NBC’s live New Year’s Eve coverage for the better part of two decades before Lorne Michaels teamed with Miley Cyrus for a pair of live specials in 2021 and 2022. (The network aired a special presentation of Sunday Night Football in 2023.)
Snoop Dogg’s New Year’s Eve will air December 31 from 10:30 PM to 12:30 AM ET on both NBC and Peacock.
