The Governor of Massachusetts Maura Healey will be making her network late-night TV debut this Wednesday night on Late Night with Seth Meyers.
Healey, a Democrat, is in the middle of her first term as governor. A former civil rights lawyer, Healey became the nation’s first openly gay state attorney general when she took the office in 2015.
Announced late Monday, Healey’s Late Night booking comes on the heels of a high profile interview with The New York Times in which she discussed the delicate balance of serving as a Democratic Governor under the Trump Administration.
As the state’s attorney general, she joined and led several cases against the president in his first term, but as governor she has pledged to work with him when his interests align with those of her consituents.
And when they don’t? Well, Healey isn’t known for biting her tongue. She was the first Democratic Governor to call for Joe Biden to step aside after his disastrous debate performance in June, and she has recently advocated for her party to be more forceful in its opposition to President Trump.
Expect all of this to be discussed when she sits down with Seth Meyers, who has his own ties to the governor’s home state, having grown up in Bedford, New Hampshire, about an hour from Boston.
Late Night with Seth Meyers airs weeknights at 12:37am ET on NBC, and is available to stream next day on Peacock,
