ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! earned first place ratings honors on a relatively low-rated, rerun-heavy holiday week of July 1, 2024.
On a dark week, Kimmel averaged 1,263,000 total viewers with 186,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-three-day data. That’s -22% and -22%, respectively, from the week before (a week which featured four new episodes, and one rebroadcast). This past week’s ratings averages are exclusively based off the show’s Thursday, July 4 and Friday, July 5 episodes. ABC declined to submit data to Nielsen for Jimmy Kimmel Live!’s Monday, July 1-Wednesday, July 3 episodes.
NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon averaged 1,213,000 total viewers with 168,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-three data for the week starting July 1. That’s -10% in total viewers and -31% in P18-49 viewers from the week before (which also featured exclusively rebroadcasts). Unlike Kimmel, Tonight Show‘s week of July 1 averages are based on five days of telecasts.
CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert averaged 1,211,000 total viewers with 139,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-three data for the week of July 1. That’s -8% in total viewers and -29% in P18-49 from the week before (which also exclusively featuring rebroadcasts). Similar to The Tonight Show, The Late Show‘s week of July 1 averages are based on five days of telecasts.
Following Colbert, After Midnight averaged 507,000 total viewers with 82,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-three data for the week of July 1. That’s -7% in total viewers and -27% in P18-49 from the week prior (which also exclusively featured rebroadcasts). After Midnight‘s week of July 1 averages are based on five days of episode rebroadcasts.
Following Fallon, Late Night with Seth Meyers averaged 654,000 total viewers with 94,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-three data for the week starting July 1. That’s -13% and -34%, respectively, from the week prior (which exclusively featured episode rebroadcasts). Late Night‘s week of July 1 averages are based on five days of episode rebroadcasts.
ABC’s Nightline aired episodes on four days this past week, excluding Wednesday, July 3. The late night news program averaged 723,000 total viewers with 99,000 P18-49 viewers, per Nielsen live-plus-three data for the week of July 1. That represents a -17% drop off in total viewers and a -29% drop off in P18-49 viewers from the week prior.
Comedy Central’s The Daily Show did not air on the week of July 1.
