ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! took advantage of a dark week for its competitors, and an NFL Draft lead-in to capture first place in the late-night ratings race this past week, winning the timeslot both in total viewers and P18-49.
Per Nielsen live-plus-three-day data, Kimmel averaged 1,723,000 total viewers and 211,000 P18-49 viewers for the week starting April 22, 2024. Compared with the week before (starting April 15), the program shed -4% in total viewers but gained +2% in P18-49 viewers. The program aired new episodes Monday-Wednesday, and repeats on Thursday and Friday.
CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert came in second place at 11:35 p.m. for the week of April 22. Its five days of repeats averaged 1,435,000 total viewers and 173,000 P18-49 viewers. Relative to the week before (featuring four days of new episodes), that’s -43% in total viewers and -37% in P18-49 viewers.
NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers were dark for the second consecutive week and televised repeats all five nights. The Tonight Show, matched The Late Show with 173,000 P18-49 viewers, but averaged 1,121,000 total linear viewers, per live-plus-three data. That’s +2%, and -1%, respectively, from the week before. Late Night with Seth Meyers averaged 622,000 total viewers and 104,000 P18-49 viewers in its usual timeslot, per Nielsen live-plus-three data. That’s -10% and -3%, respectively, from the week prior.
CBS’ After Midnight averaged 654,000 total viewers and 134,000 P18-49 viewers this past week. Compared to the week prior, After Midnight shed -7% in total viewers and -12% in P18-49 viewers. The program aired new episodes Monday-Thursday, and a repeat on Friday.
ABC News’ Nightline averaged 883,000 total viewers and 135,000 P18-49 viewers for the week of April 22. That’s up +5% in total viewers, and +14% in P18-49 viewers from the week before.
Comedy Central’s The Daily Show was hosted by Jon Stewart on Monday, April 22, and co-hosted by Ronny Chieng and Jordan Klepper Tuesday April 23-Thursday, April 25. The program averaged 951,000 total viewers and 195,000 P18-49 viewers across the four shows, per live-plus-three-data. That’s up +6% in total viewers, and +9% in P18-49 viewers from the previous week.
