Late Night Ratings: Week of April 15, 2024

Note: LateNighter generally posts late night weekly live-plus-three ratings on a three (business) day delay, which is how they are released by Nielsen.

CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert captured first place in the late-night ratings race this past week, both in total viewers and P18-49.

Per Nielsen live-plus-three-day data, excluding repeats, The Late Show averaged 2,530,000 total viewers and 275,000 P18-49 viewers for the week of April 15, 2024.  Compared with the previous week (starting April 8, 2024), that’s +6% in total viewers and +2% in P18-49 viewers.

Excluding repeats, Jimmy Kimmel Live came in second place at 11:35 p.m. last week, averaging 1,787,000 total viewers and 207,000 P18-49 viewers. Relative to the week before, that’s +1% in total viewers and +3% in P18-49 viewers.

NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers were dark this past week (and remain dark this week) and televised repeats in their respective timeslots. As expected, both shows saw week-to-week audience losses. The Tonight Show came in third at 11:35 p.m., having averaged 1,128,000 total linear viewers and 170,000 P18-49 viewers, per live-plus-three data. That’s -21%,and -23%, respectively, from the week before, when the show aired all new episodes.

A repeat-filled week of Late Night with Seth Meyers averaged 689,000 total viewers and 107,000 P18-49 viewers in its usual timeslot, per Nielsen live-plus-three data. That’s -28% and -22%, respectively, from the week prior, when the show aired new episodes.

Excluding repeats, CBS’ After Midnight averaged 700,000 total viewers and 153,000 P18-49 viewers this past week. That’s more than the NBC competition in both measurements. Compared to the week prior, After Midnight gained +8% in total viewers and +7% in P18-49 viewers.

ABC News’ Nightline averaged 844,000 total viewers and 118,000 P18-49 viewers for the week of April 15 at 12:37 a.m. That’s -0.5% in total viewers, and -17% in P18-49 viewers from the week before.

Comedy Central’s The Daily Show was hosted by Jon Stewart on Monday, April 15, and correspondent Dulce Sloan Tuesday, April 16 through Thursday, April 18. The program averaged 896,000 total viewers and 161,000 P18-49 viewers for the week, per live-plus-three-data. That’s +2% in total viewers, but -9% in P18-49 viewers from the previous week.
