Late Night Ratings: Wednesday, May 1, 2024

Note: LateNighter generally posts late night daily ratings on a two (business) day delay, which is how they are released by Nielsen.

For the second consecutive day, NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon averaged the most Adults 18-49, while CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert averaged the most total viewers in the 11:35 p.m. timeslot.

Per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data for Wednesday, May 1, Colbert averaged 1,909,000 total viewers and 244,000 P18-49. That’s -5% and +7%, respectively, from the night before (April 30). It’s also +69% and +83%, respectively, from the prior Wednesday’s telecast (a repeat). Carol Burnett, and Phil Keoghan were Colbert’s guests this past Wednesday. Jacob Collier performed.

The Tonight Show averaged 1,379,000 total viewers and 249,000 P18-49 on Wednesday. That’s up +7% and +3%, respectively, from the day before; +33% and +41%, respectively, from the prior Wednesday’s telecast (a repeat). Doja Cat, and Winston Duke were Fallon’s guests.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! averaged 1,656,000 total viewers and 205,000 P18-49 viewers this past Wednesday. That’s up +7% in total viewers, and +41% gain in P18-49 viewers from the day before. The program shed -13% in total viewers but held steady in P18-49 viewing from the previous Wednesday. Ryan Gosling, and Jeff Ross were Kimmel’s guests.

NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers won the 12:35 a.m. timeslot this past Wednesday, both in total viewers (952,000) and P18-49 (187,000). The show improved by +15% and +4%, respectively, from the night before; +47% and +64%, respectively from the previous Wednesday telecast (a repeat). Orlando Bloom, and Ncuti Gatwa were Meyers’ guests. Queen Cora Coleman continued to sit in with the 8G Band.

ABC’s half-hour news offering Nightline averaged 910,000 total viewers and 124,000 P18-49 viewers at 12:37 a.m. That’s +6% in total viewers but -1% in P18-49 viewers from the day before; +15% and +23%, respectively, from the previous Wednesday episode.

CBS’ After Midnight is dark this week. The show aired its April 4, 2024 episode this past Wednesday, which averaged 606,000 total viewers with 132,000 P18-49 viewers at 12:37 a.m. The telecast shed -10% in total viewers but gained +33% in P18-49 viewers from the day before (also a repeat); +26% and +52%, respectively, from the previous Wednesday.

Comedy Central’s The Daily Show was dark this week, and did not air on Wednesday.
