Late Night Ratings: Wednesday, April 24, 2024

Note: LateNighter generally posts late night daily ratings on a two (business) day delay, which is how they are released by Nielsen.

ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! continues to take advantage of its competition airing repeats this week, earning yet another win in the 11:35 p.m. ratings race.

Kimmel delivered the most total viewers and P18-49 at 11:35 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, averaging 1,894,000 and 205,000 in those respective measurements. The show shed -2% in total viewers but gained +1% in P18-49 viewers from the day before (Tuesday, April 23), gained +31% in total viewers and +3% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Wednesday (April 17, 2024). Kimmel’s guests on April 24 were Carol Burnett, and Nicholas Galitzine. Christian Nodal performed.

CBS aired The Late Show’s April 8, 2024 episode this past Wednesday at 11:35 p.m. The telecast averaged just 1,132,000 total viewers and 133,000 P18-49. That’s a -15% decline in total viewers and a -24% decline in P18-49 viewers from the previous day’s episode (also a repeat), -38% and -35%, respectively, from the previous Wednesday episode (a new one).

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’s April 9, 2024 episode (the Conan O’Brien episode) aired this past Wednesday at 11:35 p.m. It averaged 1,037,000 total viewers and 177,000 P18-49 linear viewers on NBC. That represents a +3% gain in total viewers, and a +26% in P18-49 viewers from the day before (also a repeat), -7% but +4%, respectively, from the previous Wednesday’s episode (also a repeat).

Following The Tonight Show, NBC aired a repeat of Late Night with Seth Meyers’ April 1, 2024 episode. The telecast averaged 648,000 total viewers and 114,000 P18-49 viewers at 12:36 a.m. That represents a +13% gain in total viewers and a +34% gain in P18-49 viewers from the day before, a -5% decline in total viewers, but a +34% improvement in P18-49 viewers from the previous Wednesday’s episode, another repeat.

CBS’ After Midnight, unlike its Late Show lead-in, was new on Wednesday. However, the episode averaged just 481,000 total viewers, and 87,000 P18-49 viewers at 12:37 a.m. That’s -16% in total viewers and -30% in P18-49 viewers from the day before, -15% in total viewers, and -24% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Wednesday episode. Lisa Ann Walter, Daniel Franzese, and Michelle Collins appeared on the Taylor Tomlinson-led program this past Wednesday, April 24.

ABC’s Nightline returned to Earth after its huge ratings night on Tuesday, April 23. The half-hour late night news program averaged 792,000 total viewers and 101,000 P18-49 viewers this past Wednesday at 12:37 a.m. That’s -20% in total viewers, and -20% in P18-49 viewers from the day before, but +6% in total viewers and +2% in P18-49 viewers from the Wednesday before.

Ronny Chieng and Jordan Klepper’s second night as Daily Show co-hosts averaged 415,000 total viewers at 11 p.m. That’s +12% from the day before, and +0.5% from the Wednesday before. However, the episode struggled in P18-49 viewers, averaging only 72,000 from the measurement at 11 p.m. That represents a -12% drop-off from the day before, and -27% from the prior Wednesday episode, hosted by Dulcé Sloan.
