Late night shows posted day-to-day growth in total viewers this past Tuesday, April 30, and NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon saw impressive growth in P18-49 viewers.
The Tonight Show and CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert split first place on Tuesday in the 11:35 p.m. slot.
Per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data, The Tonight Show averaged 1,294,000 total viewers and 241,000 P18-49 viewers this past Tuesday, April 30. That’s +16% and +29%, respectively, from the day before (Monday, April 29). It’s also +29%, and +71%, respectively, from the previous Tuesday’s telecast (a repeat). Tiger Woods, Benny Blanco, and Todd Barry were Fallon’s guests on Tuesday.
CBS’ The Late Show averaged 2,011,000 total viewers with 229,000 P18-49 viewers on Tuesday. That’s up +1% in total viewers and +11% among P18-49 compared to the day before. It’s also +51%, and +31%, respectively, compared with the previous Tuesday which featured a repeat. Jeff Daniels, Hannah Einbinder were Colbert’s guests on Tuesday. Béla Fleck sat in with Louis Cato and the Late Show Band.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! averaged 1,547,000 total viewers but just 145,000 P18-49 viewers this past Tuesday. That’s a +12% gain in total viewers, but a -22% loss in P18-49 viewers from the day before. The program shed -20% in total viewers and -28% in P18-49 from the previous Tuesday (when its competitors aired repeats). Jerry Seinfeld, and Melissa Benoist were Kimmel’s guests on Tuesday. Rhiannon Giddens performed.
After Kimmel, ABC’s Nightline averaged 859,000 total viewers and 125,000 P18-49 viewers at 12:37 a.m. on Tuesday. That’s +18% and +16%, respectively, from the day before; +29% and -1%, respectively, from the previous Tuesday.
NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers averaged 826,000 total viewers and 180,000 P18-49 viewers on Tuesday at 12:36 a.m. That represents a +7% improvement in total viewers, and +36% improvement in P18-49 viewers from the day before; +44% and +112%, respectively, from the previous Tuesday telecast (a repeat). Joe Manganiello, Jonathan Lemire, and Zarna Garg were Meyers’ guests on Monday. Queen Cora Coleman sat in with the 8G Band.
CBS’ After Midnight is dark this week. The show aired its March 14, 2024 episode this past Tuesday, which averaged 677,000 total viewers with 99,000 P18-49 viewers at 12:37 a.m. That’s up +15% in total viewers and steady in P18-49 viewers from the day before (also a repeat); +18% and -20%, respectively, from the previous Tuesday (a new episode).
Comedy Central’s The Daily Show is dark this week, and did not air on Tuesday.
