Late Night Ratings: Tuesday, October 29, 2024

Note: LateNighter’s late night daily ratings reports are drawn from Nielsen live-plus-same-day data and do not take include delayed and/or streaming views. They are generally posted on a two (business) day delay, which is how they are released by Nielsen.

CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert delivered a 11:35 p.m. timeslot win on Tuesday, October 29, finishing ahead of its timeslot counterparts not only in total viewers but also in the key P18-49 demographic for the fifth consecutive Tuesday.

The Oct. 29 Late Show was a guest-heavy episode. Stephen Colbert was joined by guests Tom Hanks, Rachel Zegler, Jack Antonoff, and the cast of “Romeo + Juliet.” The episode averaged a timeslot-high 2,096,000 total viewers with 262,000 P18-49. That’s a gain of +8% in total viewers and +2% in P18-49 from the previous night’s episode (Monday, Oct. 28), but -9% and -13%, respectively, from the previous Tuesday’s episode (Oct. 22) — an especially highly-rated one for The Late Show.

NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! split second place at 11:35 p.m. Fallon averaged 1,129,000 total viewers with 174,000 P18-49 on Tuesday. That’s steady in total viewers and up +7% among P18-49 viewers from the night before, up +14% and +54%, respectively, from the previous Tuesday’s episode. Olivia Rodrigo, and Keri Russell made guest appearances on the Tuesday, Oct. 29 Tonight Show. The musical guest was Andrea Bocelli performing with Lauren Daigle. Kimmel, on the other hand, averaged 1,648,000 total viewers with 170,000 P18-49 on Tuesday — which is down -7% in total viewers and -42% among P18-49 from the night before (a Monday Night Football-boosted episode); but up +36% and +19%, respectively, from the previous Tuesday’s Kimmel (a repeat). Hugh Grant, and Aldis Hodge were Kimmel’s guests on Tuesday, Oct. 29, and Dawes performed.

Featuring guests Nicolle Wallace, Betty Gilpin, and Jeff Hiller, the Tuesday, Oct. 29 episode of NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers averaged a 12:35 a.m. timeslot-high 762,000 total viewers with 118,000 P18-49. That’s down -14% in total viewers and -13% in P18-49 from the previous night’s episode, but up +5% and +46%, respectively, from the previous Tuesday’s episode.

Airing after The Late ShowAfter Midnight averaged 562,000 total viewers with 112,000 P18-49 on CBS. That’s down -1% in total viewers but up +8% among P18-49 from the previous night’s episode; down -23% and -19%, respectively, from the previous Tuesday’s episode. Jay Jurden, Joanne McNally, and Affion Crockett were guests on the Taylor Tomlinson-led program this past Tuesday.

Following Tuesday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, ABC’s Nightline averaged 728,000 total viewers with only 74,000 P18-49. That’s down -26% in total viewers and -48% among P18-49 from the previous night’s MNF-boosted episode, down -9% but up +12%, respectively, from the previous Tuesday’s Nightline.

Lastly, guest hosted by Ronny Chieng, the Tuesday, Oct. 29 Daily Show  averaged 521,000 total viewers with 104,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live plus same day data. That’s down -21% in total viewers and -8% among P18-49 from the night before (hosted by Jon Stewart), -4% and -11%, respectively, from the previous Tuesday’s Daily Show (guest hosted by Michael Kosta). Voto Latino CEO María Teresa Kumar joined Chieng on the program.
