Late Night Ratings: Thursday, May 2, 2024

Note: LateNighter generally posts late night daily ratings on a two (business) day delay, which is how they are released by Nielsen.

NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon continues to win the key P18-49 demo at 11:35 p.m., while CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert held strong at No. 1 in total viewers on Thursday, May 2, 2024.

According to live-plus-same-day data from Nielsen, Colbert’s Late Show averaged 1,961,000 total viewers and 188,000 P18-49 this past Thursday. That’s +3% in total viewers, but -23% in P18-49 viewers from the night before (Wednesday, May 1). It’s also +27% and +13%, respectively, from the prior Thursday’s Late Show (a repeat telecast). John Leguizamo, Laura Coates were Colbert’s guests on Thursday, May 2.

Fallon’s Tonight Show averaged 1,397,000 total viewers with 244,000 P18-49 viewers this past Thursday. That’s -2% and +1%, respectively, from the day before; +24% and +23%, respectively, from the prior Thursday (a repeat telecast). Kate Hudson, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend were Fallon’s guests on Thursday, May 2.

ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! averaged 1,387,000 total viewers and 161,000 P18-49 viewers this past Thursday. That’s -17% in total viewers, and -21% in P18-49 viewers from the day before. The program gained +27% in total viewers but shed -37% in P18-49 viewers from the prior Thursday, a repeat telecast that had the NFL Draft as its lead-in. John Mulaney was Kimmel’s guest. Gary Clark Jr., and Stevie Wonder performed.

NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers won the 12:35 a.m. timeslot this past Thursday, both in total viewers (961,000) and P18-49 (147,000). The show gained +1% in total viewers, but shed -21% in P18-49 viewers from the night before; +80% and +69%, respectively from the previous Thursday (a repeat telecast). Jonathan Groff, and Adam Pally were Meyers’ guests on Thursday, May 2. Queen Cora Coleman sat in with the 8G Band.

ABC’s half-hour news offering Nightline averaged 764,000 total viewers and 119,000 P18-49 viewers at 12:37 a.m. That’s -16% in total viewers and -4% in P18-49 viewers from the day before; +8% and -28%, respectively, from the previous Thursday episode.

CBS’ After Midnight was dark during the week of April 29. The show aired its March 27, 2024 episode on Thursday, May 2, and the repeat telecast averaged 598,000 total viewers with just 65,000 P18-49 viewers at 12:37 a.m. That’s -1% in total viewers and a whopping -52% in P18-49 viewers from the day before (also a repeat telecast); -5% and -37%, respectively, from the previous Thursday’s episode.

Comedy Central’s The Daily Show was dark this past week, and did not air on Thursday.
