Late Night Ratings: Thursday, June 6, 2024

Note: LateNighter generally posts late night daily ratings on a two (business) day delay, which is how they are released by Nielsen.

Aided by a 2024 NBA Finals Game 1 lead-in, the Thursday, June 6 episode of ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! delivered its largest live-plus-same-day audience since Nov. 20, 2023, and its largest Pl8-49 live-plus-same-day audience in more than eight months.

ABC’s late-night talk offering averaged 2,354,000 total viewers with 558,000 P18-49 this past Thursday, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +47% in total viewers and +198% in P18-49 viewers from the previous day’s new episode; +15% in total viewers and +185% in P18-49 from the previous Thursday’s episode (the highly-rated Trump trial guilty verdict episode). Magic Johnson, and Jo Koy were guests on Thursday’s Kimmel. Doechii featuring JT performed.

The Thursday, June 6 edition of CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert averaged 1,681,000 total viewers with 196,000 P18-49 at 11:35 p.m., per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s -5% in total viewers and -21% in P18-49 from the previous day’s new episode (Wednesday, June 5); +39% and +5%, respectively, from the prior Thursday’s telecast (a rebroadcast). Julia Louis-Dreyfus was Colbert’s Late Show guest on Thursday. Hozier performed.

NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon averaged 1,227,000 total viewers with 210,000 P18-49 viewers this past Thursday at 11:35 p.m. That’s +11% in total viewers and +16% in P18-49 from the previous day’s new episode; +39% and +22%, respectively, from the prior Thursday’s telecast (a rebroadcast). _ were Fallon’s Tonight Show guests on Thursday, June 6. Ariana Grande, Ron Howard, Richard Gadd, and Jessica Gunning were Fallon’s Tonight Show guests this past Thursday.

Following Fallon on Thursday, NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers averaged 676,000 total viewers with only 89,000 P18-49. That’s -14% in total viewers and -30% in P18-49 from the previous day’s new episode; +1% but -25%, respectively from the previous Thursday telecast (a rebroadcast). David Ortiz, and John Early appeared on the Thursday, June 6 episode of Late Night. Roni Kaspi continued to sit in with the Studio 8G band.

Following Colbert, After Midnight averaged 567,000 total viewers with 95,000 P18-49 viewers at 12:35 a.m. on CBS. The Taylor Tomlinson led-program gained +2% in total viewers and +1% in P18-49 viewers from the previous day’s new episode; -1% and -21%, respectively, from the previous Thursday telecast (a rebroadcast). Brian Simpson, Kelsey Cook, and Blair Socci appeared on the Thursday, June 6 episode.

Nightline received a substantial ratings bump from Jimmy Kimmel Live!‘s larger-than-usual audience. The June 6 episode averaged 1,194,000 total viewers with 290,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s up +44% in total viewers and a whopping +254% in P18-49 viewers from the day before; +21% and +146%, respectively, from the previous Thursday’s new episode.

Lastly, the Thursday, June 6 Daily Show hosted by Ronny Chieng averaged 378,000 total viewers with 79,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live plus same day data. That’s -10% in total viewers and -15% among P18-49 from the night before. Thursday is often The Daily Show‘s lowest-rated day of the week, so this decline isn’t particularly surprising.

Comedy Central’s The Daily Show did not air the week of May 27. Relative to the most recent Thursday episode (May 23 hosted by Michael Kosta), however, the June 6 episode improved by +8% in total viewers, and +32% among P18-49. George Conway joined Chieng on Thursday’s episode.
