Late Night Ratings: Thursday, July 11, 2024

Note: LateNighter generally posts late night daily ratings on a two (business) day delay, which is how they are released by Nielsen.

Six late-night shows delivered day-to-day audience growth on Thursday, July 11, with CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon going on to split first place.

The Late Show averaged 1,814,000 total viewers with 155,000 P18-49 on Thursday, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +1% and +4%, respectively from Wednesday’s episode; +69% and +5%, respectively, from the previous Thursday (a rebroadcast on Independence Day). John Dickerson was Colbert’s July 11 Late Show guest. Jessica Pratt performed on the program.

The Tonight Show averaged 1,322,000 total viewers with 242,000 P18-49 viewers on Thursday, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +7% in total viewers, and +19% in P18-49 from Wednesday’s episode; -4% but +14%, respectively, from the prior Thursday (a rebroadcast). Fallon welcomed Channing Tatum, and Kevin Jonas to The Tonight Show this past Thursday. Phish performed.

With Kumail Nanjiani taking over as guest host, ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! saw gains from earlier in the week. The show’s Thursday, July 11 episode of  averaged 1,217,000 total viewers with 199,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +22% and +84%, respectively, from the previous day’s episode, which was guest-hosted by Kathryn Hahn. However, the July 11 Kimmel was -6% and -4%, respectively, from the previous Thursday’s telecast (a rebroadcast hosted by Kimmel). Nanjiani welcomed Nikki Glaser and Paul Scheer to the program this past Thursday. Mon Laferte performed.

Following The Tonight Show, NBC presented a new episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers at 12:35 a.m., which went on to average 878,000 total viewers with 169,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +1% in total viewers and +8% in P18-49 from Wednesday’s episode; +34% and +51%, respectively, from the previous Thursday’s telecast (a rebroadcast). Meyers welcomed Kenan Thompson, and Jen Psaki to the program this past Thursday. Kate Schellenbach sat in with the 8G Band.

Following The Late Show on CBS was a new episode of After Midnight. The July 11 After Midnight averaged 520,000 total viewers with 70,000 P18-49 viewers, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +2% and +9%, respectively, from the previous day’s episode; +5% but -10%, respectively, from the previous Thursday telecast (a rebroadcast). Richie Moriarty, Betsy Sodaro, and Punam Patel appeared on the Taylor Tomlinson-fronted program.

Following Kimmel, ABC aired a new episode of Nightline, and it averaged 791,000 total viewers with 138,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +25% in total viewers and +123% in P18-49 viewers from Wednesday’s relatively low-rated episode. The July 11 episode gained +11% and +97%, respectively, from the previous Thursday’s Nightline.

The Daily Show was preempted on Thursday, July 11.
