CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert earned first place in the 11:35 p.m. timeslot on Thursday, April 18, posting gains in the process.
According to Nielsen live-plus-same-day data for April 18, 2024, The Late Show averaged 1,989,000 total viewers and 234,000 P18-49 viewers. That’s up +9% and +14%, respectively, from the day before (Wednesday, April 17). The program also gained +81% and +107%, respectively, from the previous Thursday episode (April 11). The April 11 episode was delayed a quarter-hour due to Masters Tournament coverage. Sandra Oh, Reid Scott, and Daniel Radcliffe were Colbert’s Late Show guests on April 18.
ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! took second place at 11:35 p.m. this past Thursday, both in total viewers (1,606,000) and in P18-49 (171,000). The ABC late-night offering gained +11% in total viewers from the previous night’s episode, but shed -1% from the previous Thursday episode. Jimmy Kimmel Live’s 171,000 P18-49 viewer average on Thursday is -14% from the night before and -14% from the Thursday before. Kimmel’s guests for Thursday, April 19 were Zendaya, Freddie Miller and Uriel Valenzuela. Olivia Dean performed.
NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Late Night with Seth Meyers were both dark during the week starting April 15, and are dark during the week of April 22.
The Tonight Show aired a repeat of its March 25, 2024 episode this past Thursday, which averaged 1,290,000 total viewers and 166,000 P18-49 viewers. That’ represents % in total viewers, and % in P18-49 viewers. That’s +15% in total viewers, but -2% in P18-49 viewers from the previous night’s repeat telecast, -12% in total viewers, and -27% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Thursday episode (a new one).
Late Night with Seth Meyers aired a repeat of March 5, 2024 episode this past Thursday. The 12:36 a.m. telecast averaged 781,000 total viewers and 129,000 P18-49 viewers. That’s +13% and +29%, respectively, from the previous night’s repeat, but -12% and -10%, respectively, from the previous Thursday episode (a new one).
CBS’ After Midnight averaged 639,000 total viewers and 127,000 P18-49 viewers on Thursday. That’s +13% and +11%, respectively, from the previous night’s 12:37 a.m. episode. Compared to the most-recent Thursday episode, After Midnight gained +20% in total viewers and +51% in P18-49 viewers. Jon Lovett, Josh Sharp, and Aaron Jackson appeared on the April 18 After Midnight.
ABC News’ half-hour offering Nightline aired an original episode this past Thursday, which averaged 812,000 total viewers and 118,000 P18-49 viewers at 12:37 a.m. That represents a +9% gain in total viewers and a +19% gain in P18-49 viewers from the day before, but a -4% loss in total viewers, and a -6% loss in P18-49 viewers from the previous Thursday episode.
Nine weeks into the 29th season of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, correspondent Dulcé Sloan finally got her crack at a rotating guest-host gig, leading Daily Show’s Tuesday, April 16 through Thursday, April 18 broadcasts.
Sloan’s final episode of the week as host drew an average of 374,000 total viewers and 84,000 P18-49 viewers at 11 p.m., per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s -9% in total viewers, and -14% in P18-49 viewers from the previous day’s episode, -5% in total viewers and -6% in P18-49 viewers from TDS’ most-recent Thursday episode, hosted by correspondent Michael Kosta.
