NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Late Night with Seth Meyers are dark and airing repeats this week, theoretically providing a path for their timeslot counterparts gain viewers, beginning on Monday, October 14.

CBS, in particular, benefited from those NBC repeats in late night. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and After Midnight hosted by Taylor Tomlinson, which themselves were dark last week, saw substantial viewer gains. The Late Show averaged the most total viewers and second-most P18-49 viewers at 11:35 p.m., averaging 2,234,000 and 264,000, respectively. Patton Oswalt, and Naomi Scott were Kimmel’s guests this past Monday. Glass Animals performed.

Following Jimmy Kimmel Live!, a new episode of Nightline averaged 940,000 total viewers with 197,000 P18-49 at 1:11 a.m. That’s up +9% and +84%, respectively, from the Monday prior.

Airing after Colbert, After Midnight averaged 667,000 total viewers with 126,000 P18-49. That’s +up 31% and +1%, respectively, from the previous Monday’s telecast (a repeat). Tawny Newsome, Eugene Cordero, and Jerry O’Connell appeared on the program.

On the repeat front, NBC re-aired the Oct. 1, 2024 episode of The Tonight Show this past Monday, and the 11:35 p.m. telecast averaged 988,000 total viewers with only 111,000 P18-49. That’s down -24% in total viewers and -43% among P18-49 from the previous Monday (a new episode). Sarah Paulson, and Jack Antonoff were Fallon’s guests on the Oct. 1 episode. Teddy Swims performed.

Following Fallon was a rebroadcast of Late Night with Seth Meyers‘ Sept. 9, 2024 episode. Featuring Kacey Musgraves, Sue Bird, and Megan Rapinoe, the 12:35 a.m. telecast averaged 721,000 total viewers with 90,000 P18-49. That’s down -12% in total viewers and -32% among P18-49 from the Monday prior.

The Daily Show did not air on Monday in observance of the Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples’ Day holiday. The Comedy Central series returned on Tuesday night with Desi Lydic hosting through the rest of the week. Jon Stewart returns to the program next Monday.
