The entire late-night landscape returned to the airwaves this past Monday, June 3, after what had been a dark week for most of them.
CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! split first place, with the former averaging the most total viewers and the latter averaging the most P18-49 viewers at 11:35 p.m. on Monday.
Per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data, Kimmel averaged 1,599,000 total viewers with 234,000 P18-49 viewers on Monday, June 3 at 11:35 p.m. That’s up +36% in total viewers and +49% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Monday telecast (a rebroadcast). The week-to-week gain makes sense. The previous Monday was Memorial Day and featured a Jimmy Kimmel Live! rebroadcast at 11:35 p.m. Kimmel’s June 3 guests were Albert Brooks and Rob Reiner, followed by Ms. Pat. Gaby Moreno performed.
Per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data, The Late Show averaged 1,963,000 total viewers with 180,000 P18-49 viewers Monday at 11:35 p.m. The Late Show gained +73% in total viewers and +15% in P18-49 from the previous Monday telecast. Alicia Keys, and Stephen Merchant were Colbert’s guests this past Monday.
Per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data, NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon averaged 1,070,000 total viewers and 145,000 P18-49 this past Monday, June 3. That’s +9% in total viewers but -2% in P18-49 viewers from the Monday prior (a rebroadcast). Jessica Alba, and Marlon Wayans were Fallon’s guests on Monday. Broadway’s “The Outsiders” performed.
NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers returned on Monday after a two-week break. Per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data, the Monday, June 3 episode averaged 728,000 total viewers with 107,000 P18-49 viewers. That’s up +21% in total viewers but -8% in P18-49 viewers from prior Monday (a rebroadcast). Sandra Oh, Retta, and Ben Platt were Meyers’ June 3 guests. Roni Kaspi sat in with the 8G Band.
Per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data, CBS’ After Midnight averaged 614,000 total viewers with 99,000 P18-49 viewers on Monday, June 3. That’s +56% in total viewers and +5% in P18-49 viewers from the Monday prior (a rebroadcast). Alex Edelman, Jack McBrayer, Jackie Tohn appeared on the Taylor Tomlinson-led program.
Per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data, ABC’s Nightline averaged 779,000 total viewers with 128,000 P18-49 on Monday, June 3. That’s up +20% in total viewers and +54% in P18-49 viewers from the Memorial Day Monday telecast.
The Daily Show was hosted by Jon Stewart on Monday, June 3, and per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data averaged 787,000 total viewers (largest audience since March 25), and 147,000 P18-49. The Daily Show did not air the Monday before, but it did air on Monday, May 20. Relative to that episode, Stewart’s June 3 Daily Show gained +13% in total viewers but shed -3% in P18-49 viewers.
