CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert kicked off the week of May 20 earning No. 1 in the 11:35 p.m. ratings race.
Per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data, Colbert’s Late Show averaged 1,843,000 total viewers with 230,000 P18-49 viewers on May 20, 2024. That’s -6% and +24%, respectively, from the previous Monday (May 13). Sarah Paulson, and Paul Scheer were Colbert’s guests this past Monday.  Cast members from Broadway’s “Merrily We Roll Along,” Angie Swan & Lakecia Benjamin, performed.
ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! returned to the air this past Monday after a dark week. The program averaged 1,596,000 total viewers with 166,000 P18-49 viewers. ABC did not submit ratings data to Nielsen for last week’s rebroadcasts. However, compared to the Monday before (May 6), the Monday, May 20 episode is +2% in total viewers and -31% in P18-49. Jennifer Lopez and Tony Goldwyn appeared on Monday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! Slash performed on the program.
NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon averaged 1,173,000 total viewers with 206,000 P18-49 viewers this past Monday. That’s -4% and +10%, respectively, from the Monday prior (May 13). Eddie Redmayne, Michael McDonald, and Paul Reiser were Fallon’s guests this past Monday. Tems performed on the program.
NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers is dark this week, and the program televised a rebroadcast of its April 9, 2024 episode this past Monday — averaging 708,000 total viewers with 143,000 P18-49 viewers. That’s -17% in total viewers, but +13% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Monday’s episode (a new one).
CBS’ After Midnight averaged 535,000 total viewers with 122,000 P18-49 viewers at 12:36 a.m. That’s -12%, and +94%, respectively, from the previous Monday. Ben De La Creme, Rory Scovel, and Harvey Guillén appeared on the Taylor Tomlinson-led program.
ABC’s Nightline aired a new episode this past Monday, which averaged 834,000 total viewers with 126,000 P18-49 viewers. That represents a +23% gain in total viewers, and +68% gain in P18-49 viewers from the Monday before.
Per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data, the Jon Stewart-led Monday, May 20 Daily Show averaged its largest live-plus-same-day audience in more than a month: 697,000 total viewers. That’s up +1% from the Monday before. Additionally, the episode averaged 152,000 P18-49 viewers, which is -11% from the Monday prior. Chairman of the Commission on Presidential Debates Frank Fahrenkopf was Stewart’s guest on the May 20 Daily Show.
