With TV viewing mostly down across all genres on Memorial Day, late-night kicked off a mostly dark week Monday with each of shows airing repeats. Still, someone still had to win the late night ratings race. On Memorial Day 2024, it was ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! that emerged the victor.
ABC’s 11:35 p.m. late-night offering rebroadcast its April 24, 2024 episode on Memorial Day, and per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data, the telecast averaged 1,175,000 total viewers with 157,000 P18-49. That’s -26% and -5%, respectively, from the previous Monday’s episode (a new one).
CBS televised a rebroadcast of The Late Show’s May 9, 2024 episode at 11:35 p.m. on Memorial Day, and the telecast averaged 1,136,000 total viewers with 156,000 P18-49 viewers. That’s -38% in total viewers and -32% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Monday’s new episode.
NBC televised a rebroadcast of The Tonight Show’s May 9, 2024 episode at 11:35 p.m. on Memorial Day, and the telecast averaged just 979,000 total viewers with 148,000 P18-49 viewers. That’s -17% in total viewers and -28% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Monday’s new episode.
Following The Tonight Show, NBC televised a rebroadcast of Late Night with Seth Meyers‘ May 1, 2024 episode at 12:36 a.m. The telecast averaged 604,000 total viewers with 116,000 P18-49 viewers. That’s -15% in total viewers and -19% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Monday’s episode (also a rebroadcast).
Following The Late Show, CBS televised a rebroadcast of After Midnight‘s April 15, 2024 episode, and the 12:37 a.m. telecast averaged just 394,000 total viewers with 94,000 P18-49 viewers. That’s -26% in total viewers and -23% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Monday’s episode (a new one).
Lastly, following Jimmy Kimmel Live!, ABC aired a special episode of Nightline on Memorial Day which is coded as “special” (meaning it won’t count towards the news show’s season averages). The half-hour telecast averaged 648,000 total viewers and 83,000 P18-49 viewers. That’s -22% and -34%, respectively, from the prior Monday’s new episode.
Comedy Central’s The Daily Show did not air on Monday.
