With the 2024 Paris Olympics now complete, late-night programming returned to the airwaves on Monday, August 12 with all new episodes for the first time since the week starting July 22.
CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon split the 11:35 p.m. timeslot this past Monday.
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert averaged 2,104,000 total viewers with 182,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s nearly double the number of total viewers (+91%) and up +31% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Monday’s Late Show (a rebroadcast). Kaitlan Collins, and Walton Goggins were Colbert’s Late Show guests on Monday.
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon averaged 1,143,000 total viewers with 190,000 P18-49 at 11:35 p.m., per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s up +3% in total viewers, and +10% in P18-49 demo viewers from the most recent Monday Tonight Show (July 22). Channing Tatum, and Liza Colón-Zayas made guest appearance on the Monday, August 12 episode. Lawrence performed.
Jeff Goldblum guest-hosted ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! this past Monday, and the episode averaged 1,049,000 total viewers with 148,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +13% and +3%, respectively, from the previous Monday’s Kimmel (a rebroadcast). Mark Wahlberg, and Rob Delaney made guest appearances on Kimmel this past Monday. Grace Bowers & the Hodge Podge performed on the program.
This past Monday, Late Night with Seth Meyers aired its first new episode since mid-July. The August 12 episode of Late Night averaged 757,000 total viewers with 108,000 P18-49 at 12:35 a.m., per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +30% and +15%, from the most recent Monday episode (July 22). John Mulaney, and Ilona Maher were Meyers’ Late Night guests this past Monday, August 12. Todd Sucherman sat in with the 8G Band on Monday, and will continue to do so through Thursday.
Following The Late Show, CBS’ After Midnight re-aired its June 11, 2024 episode, and it averaged 621,000 total viewers with 109,000 P18-49 at 12:35 a.m., per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +41% and +20%, respectively, from the Monday before (another rebroadcast).
Following Kimmel, ABC News’ Nightline averaged 632,000 total viewers with 97,000 P18-49 at 12:35 a.m., per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +6% but -13%, respectively, from the Monday prior.
With Jon Stewart back at the anchor desk after a bout with Covid, The Daily Show averaged 525,000 total viewers with 125,000 P18-49 at 11 p.m. on Monday, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s actually -26% in total viewers, but flat in P18-49 viewers from the previous Monday’s Daily Show (guest hosted by Michael Kosta). Stewart sat down with Mark Cuban on Monday.
