Late Night Ratings: Friday, October 4, 2024

Note: LateNighter’s late night daily ratings reports are drawn from Nielsen live-plus-same-day data and do not take include delayed and/or streaming views. They are generally posted on a two (business) day delay, which is how they are released by Nielsen.

As is typically the case, ABC, NBC and CBS aired repeats of their respective late-night talk offerings this past Friday. Both Jimmy Kimmel Live! and Nightline (which was new) averaged the most total viewers at 11:35 p.m. and 12:35 a.m., respectively. CBS and NBC went on to earn P18-49 demo wins in the aforementioned timeslots.

ABC re-aired Jimmy Kimmel Live!‘s Sept. 23, 2024 episode this past Friday (featuring guests Halle Berry, Mike Tyson, musical guest Old Dominion), and the 11:35 p.m. telecast averaged a timeslot-high 1,368,000 total viewers with 154,000 P18-49 on October 4. That’s -9% in total viewers, and -15% in P18-49 from the previous night’s first-run episode. Friday’s repeat of Kimmel also shed -2% in total viewers and -21% in P18-49 from the previous Friday telecast (also a repeat).

CBS re-aired The Late Show with Stephen Colbert‘s Sept. 18 episode on Friday (featuring guest Rachel Maddow and musical guest Shaboozey). The telecast averaged 1,228,000 total viewers with an 11:35 p.m. timeslot-high 196,000 P18-49. That’s -38% and -12%, respectively, from the night before (a new episode); -3% but +32%, respectively, from the week-ago telecast (a repeat).

NBC re-aired The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon‘s Sept. 26 episode this past Friday night (featuring guests Cate Blanchett, Marcello Hernández, and Nick Griffin), and the 11:35 p.m. telecast averaged 1,049,000 total viewers with 172,000 P18-49. That’s -11% and -10%, respectively, from the night before (a new episode); -11% and -17%, respectively, from the week-ago telecast (a repeat).

ABC and NBC split first place at 12:35 a.m. NBC re-aired Late Night with Seth Meyers‘ Sept. 24, 2024 episode (featuring guests Will Ferrell, Harper Steele, and Kristen Bell), and the telecast averaged 688,000 total viewers with a timeslot-high 132,000 P18-49. That’s -21% and -2%, respectively, from the night before (a new episode); -2% but +2%, respectively, from the week-ago telecast (a repeat).

Following Kimmel, ABC aired a new episode of Nightline. The half-hour-long news program averaged a timeslot-high 747,000 total viewers along with 90,000 P18-49. This past Friday’s Nightline shed -6% in total viewers and -24% among P18-49 from the night before; -8% and -31%, respectively, from the previous Friday’s episode.

Following Colbert, CBS re-aired After Midnight‘s Sept. 12, 2024 episode (featuring guests Kurt Braunohler, Tien Tran, and Megan Gailey), and the telecast averaged 489,000 total viewers with 93,000 P18-49. That’s -20% and -2% , respectively, from the night before (a new episode); -2% and -11%, respectively, from the week-ago telecast (also a repeat).
