ABC and NBC split first place in the 11:35 p.m. ratings race on Friday, September 27, marking the second consecutive week the two networks have shared the top spot on Friday in the timeslot. The networks, along with CBS, aired repeats of their respective 11:35 p.m. offerings.
ABC re-aired Jimmy Kimmel Live!‘s Sept. 17, 2024 episode this past Friday (featuring guests George Clooney, Oprah Winfrey, Kaitlin Olson, and musical guest The Smashing Pumpkins), and the 11:35 p.m. telecast averaged a timeslot-high 1,396,000 total viewers with 194,000 P18-49. That’s down -11% in total viewers, but up +11% in P18-49 from the previous night’s first-run episode (Thursday, Sept. 26). Friday’s telecast also gained +18% in total viewers and +56% in P18-49 from the previous Friday telecast (also a repeat).
NBC re-aired The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon‘s Sept. 9, 2024 episode this past Friday (featuring guests Demi Moore, Eve Hewson, and musical guest St. Vincent). The 11:35 p.m. telecast performed quite well ratings-wise, having averaged 1,183,000 total viewers with a timeslot-high 208,000 P18-49. That’s up +18% in total viewers and +22% among P18-49 from the night before (a new episode); up +15% and +22%, respectively, from the previous Friday’s 11:35 p.m. NBC telecast (also a repeat).
CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert finished second in total viewers, but third among P18-49 at 11:35 p.m. this past Friday. CBS re-aired Colbert’s Sept. 10, 2024 episode on Friday (featuring CBS News’ John Dickerson), and the 11:35 p.m. telecast averaged 1,264,000 total viewers with 149,000 P18-49. That’s -38% and -44%, respectively, from the night before (a new episode); +8% and -12%, respectively, from the week-ago telecast (also a repeat).
ABC also NBC also split first place at 12:35 a.m. NBC re-aired Late Night with Seth Meyers‘ Sept. 18, 2024 episode in the timeslot (featuring guests Colin Farrell and Ashley Park), and it averaged 699,000 total viewers with 130,000 P18-49. That’s -8% and +11%, respectively, from the night before (a new episode); +23% and +21%, respectively, from the week-ago telecast (also a repeat).
Following Kimmel, ABC aired a new episode of Nightline. The half-hour-long news program averaged a timeslot-high 811,000 total viewers with a timeslot-high 130,000 P18-49. Friday’s Nightline shed -15% in total viewers and -2% among P18-49 from the night before; while gaining +12% and +51%, respectively, from the previous Friday’s episode.
Following Colbert, CBS re-aired After Midnight‘s Sept. 4, 2024 episode (featuring guests Guy Branum, Kate Micucci, and James Davis ), and the telecast averaged 497,000 total viewers with 104,000 P18-49. That’s down -33% and flat, respectively, from the night before (a new episode); -8% and -4%, respectively, from the week-ago telecast (also a repeat).
