On Thursday, October 3, CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert outperformed its 11:35 p.m. counterparts for the third consecutive night, both in total viewers and in P18-49.
Featuring guests Chris Wallace, Yotam Ottolenghi, and Justin Hartley, the Oct. 3 Late Show averaged 1,976,000 total viewers with 223,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +10% in total viewers but -5% in P18-49 viewers from the night before (Wednesday, Oct. 2). The Oct. 3 Late Show shed -3% in total viewers and -16% in P18-49 viewers from the Thursday before (Sept. 26).
NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! split second place in the 11:35 p.m. slot this past Thursday.
Featuring guests Saoirse Ronan, Adam Brody, and musical guest beabadoobee, Kimmel’s Thursday, Oct. 3 broadcast averaged 1,501,000 total viewers with 182,000 P18-49. That’s -3% in total viewers but +21% in P18-49 viewers from the night before; -4% but +5% in those respective categories from the week-ago episode.
Joined by the week’s SNL musical guest Chris Martin, and Chase Stokes, The Tonight Show‘s Oct. 3 broadcast averaged 1,183,000 total viewers with 191,000 P18-49. That’s -15% in total viewers and -3% in P18-49 viewers from the night before; but +18% and +12%, respectively, from the week-ago episode. Sabrina Carpenter was the episode’s musical guest.
Following Fallon, the Oct. 3 edition of NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers averaged a 12:35 a.m. timeslot-high 872,000 total viewers with 135,000 P18-49. That’s -9% in total viewers and -16% among P18-49 from the night before; but +15% and +15%, respectively, from the previous Thursday’s episode. The week’s SNL host Nate Bargatze, and Paul Reiser were guests on Meyers’ Oct. 3 episode.
Following Colbert, After Midnight hosted by Taylor Tomlinson averaged 612,000 total viewers with 95,000 P18-49. That’s +20% in total viewers, but -26% among P18-49 from the night before; -18% and -9%, respectively, from the previous Thursday. Matt Rogers, Brendan Scannell, and Greta Titelman were panelists on the Oct. 3 edition of After Midnight.
Elsewhere, the Thursday, Oct. 3 edition of ABC’s Nightline averaged 797,000 total viewers with 119,000 P18-49 in the 12:35 a.m. slot. That’s +1% in total viewers and +29% among P18-49 from the night before; but -16% and -11%, respectively, from the previous Thursday’s episode.
Lastly, the Oct. 3 Daily Show was guest hosted by Michael Kosta, and averaged 470,000 total viewers with 86,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +4% in total viewers and +8% among P18-49 from the previous night’s episode; +6% but -19%, respectively, from the previous Thursday’s episode (guest-hosted by Desi Lydic). Celebrity chef JJ Johnson was Kosta’s guest on Thursday’s Daily Show.
