ABC, NBC and CBS all aired repeats of their respective late night shows this past Friday, October 18. CBS and NBC split first place at 11:35 p.m., while NBC dominated the 12:35 a.m. timeslot.
As is the case on most nights, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert hauled in the largest total audience at 11:35 p.m. CBS re-aired The Late Show‘s Sept. 11, 2024 episode this past Friday, and the telecast averaged 1,439,000 total viewers with 166,000 P18-49. Friday’s repeat telecast shed -36% in total viewers, and -34% among P18-49 from the night before (a new episode), but gained +37% and +6%, respectively, from the week-ago telecast (another repeat). The Sept. 11 Late Show featured guests Samuel L. Jackson, and Amy Ryan.
NBC re-aired The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon‘s Sept. 10, 2024 episode Friday, and the telecast fared well, having averaged 1,150,000 total viewers with a timeslot-high 227,000 P18-49. That’s up +18% in total viewers and +46% among P18-49 from the night before (also a repeat), gained +11% and +13%, respectively, from the week-ago telecast (another repeat). The Sept. 10 Tonight Show featured guests Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez, with musical guest Lainey Wilson.
Elsewhere at 11:35 p.m., ABC re-aired Jimmy Kimmel Live!‘s Oct. 8, 2024 episode, and the telecast averaged 1,304,000 total viewers with 139,000 P18-49. That’s down -23% in total viewers and -10% among P18-49 from the night before (a new episode), down -9% and -2%, respectively, from the week-ago telecast (a repeat). JKL‘s Oct. 8 episode featured guests Harrison Ford, chef Evan Funke and musical guest Carly Pearce.
Following The Tonight Show repeat, NBC re-aired Late Night with Seth Meyers‘ Oct. 2, 2024 episode (featuring guests Mariska Hartigay, and Method Man). Similar to its lead-in, Meyers trended well, having averaged 768,000 total viewers with 147,000 P18-49 at 12:35 a.m. That’s up +24% in total viewers and +21% among P18-49 from the night before (also a repeat), +17% and +19%, respectively, from the previous Friday telecast (another repeat).
Following its Kimmel repeat, ABC aired a new episode of Nightline. The Oct. 18 episode averaged 722,000 total viewers with 85,000 P18-49. The episode shed -17% in total viewers but gained +21% among P18-49 from the night before, -8% and +13%, respectively, from the previous Friday’s episode.
Following the Colbert repeat, CBS re-aired After Midnight‘s Sept. 18, 2024 episode (featuring guests Taran Killam, Jay Pharoah, and Mary Lynn Rajskub), and the 12:35 a.m. telecast averaged 620,000 total viewers with 111,000 P18-49. That’s down -17% in total viewers and -12% among P18-49 from the night before (a new episode), but gained +44% and +18%, respectively, from the week-ago telecast (a repeat).
