ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! earned first place in the late-night ratings race on a low-rated, rerun-heavy Friday, July 5, 2024.
ABC presented a rebroadcast of JKL‘s June 20, 2024 episode at 11:35 p.m. on Friday, and the telecast averaged 1,185,000 total viewers with 163,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. Despite the win, the show was down by -9% and -21%, respectively, from the day before (Thursday, July 4). Relative to the week-ago telecast (Friday, June 28), Kimmel dropped -6% in total viewers, but gained +1% among P18-49.
NBC presented a rebroadcast of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon‘s June 3, 2024 episode this past Friday, and it averaged 1,117,000 total viewers with 138,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s -19% in total viewers, and -35% among P18-49 from the day before; -27% in total viewers and -63% among P18-49 relative to the week-ago telecast (which was The Tonight Show‘s highest-rated rebroadcast of 2024).
Also at 11:35 p.m. on Friday, CBS presented a rebroadcast of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert‘s May 21, 2024 episode. The telecast averaged 1,064,000 total viewers with only 101,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s -1% in total viewers, and -31% among P18-49 from the day before; -7% and -38% respectively, from the week-ago telecast (also a rebroadcast).
Following The Tonight Show, NBC presented a rebroadcast of Late Night with Seth Meyers‘ June 17, 2024 episode. The 12:36 a.m. telecast went on to average 643,000 total viewers with 92,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That represents a -2% decline in total viewers, and an -18% decline in P18-49 viewers from the day before; a loss of -22% and -50%, respectively, from the previous Friday’s telecast (also a rebroadcast).
Following The Late Show, CBS presented a rebroadcast of After Midnight‘s April 17, 2024 episode. The telecast averaged 483,000 total viewers with only 70,000 P18-49 viewers, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That represents a -2% loss in total viewers, and a -10% loss in P18-49 viewers from the previous day; +10% but -29%, respectively, from the prior Friday telecast (also a rebroadcast).
Nightline aired after the Kimmel repeat on ABC, per usual, and the special episode averaged 662,000 total viewers with 113,000 P18-49 viewers. That’s -7% but +61%, respectively, from the previous day’s Nightline; -15% and +7%, respectively, from the week-ago Nightline.
