Lamorne Morris Returns as Jimmy Kimmel’s Next Guest Host

Jimmy Kimmel’s next summer substitute has been revealed.

LateNighter has learned that actor/comedian Lamorne Morris will serve as guest host of Jimmy Kimmel Live! next week. The sub-in is part of Kimmel’s planned summer vacation, which has become part of his routine for the show since 2020.

Morris is best known for his role as Winston Bishop on New Girl, though his other credits include the most recent season of Fargo and films like Game Night and Barbershop: The Next Cut. He also currently co-hosts two podcasts: New Girl rewatch pod The Mess Around and comedy chat show The Lamorning After.

Morris’ next project also puts him in the world of late night: he will star as founding SNL cast member Garrett Morris (no relation) in the upcoming movie SNL 1975, which takes place in real-time behind the scenes of the first-ever episode of Saturday Night Live.

Kimmel’s desk is familiar to Morris, who guest-hosted the show for two days in August 2022, and kicked off the stint with a parody of Training Day. He has also been a guest on the show (when Kimmel was actually hosting) three other times since 2020.

So far this summer, Kimmel’s fill-in hosts have been Martin Short (and Jiminy Glick), Kathryn Hahn, Kumail Nanjiani, and Anthony Anderson. Still to come during Kimmel’s vacation are Jeff Goldblum, RuPaul, Ryan Reynolds, and Hugh Jackman.

Morris’ guests for the week have not yet been unannounced, but stay tuned to LateNighter’s lineups page for updates.
