Michael Kosta to Host The Daily Show All Week as Jon Stewart Tests Positive for COVID

Colin Jost is not the only late-night star who will be convalescing this week. Comedy Central has announced that Jon Stewart will miss his normal Monday night hosting gig tonight on The Daily Show after testing positive for COVID.

But the desk, of course, is in great hands as Michael Kosta takes over for the week, hosting new episodes Monday through Thursday with an impressive lineup of guests. On Monday, Roxane Gay—publisher, professor, and New York Times Bestselling author of The Bad Feminist—will drop by to talk about her new ebook/audiobook Stand Your Ground, about America’s gun culture.

On Tuesday, Kosta will chat up The Office star/former Daily Show correspondent Ed Helms, who will be promoting the second season of his podcast SNAFU, which recounts “history’s greatest screw-ups.” On Thursday, comedian Hannah Berner will talk about We Ride at Dawn, her Netflix standup special that premiered in July. (Wednesday’s guest has not yet been announced.)

This week will mark Kosta’s sixth time as host since Stewart’s return in February, including one week as co-host with Desi Lydic in March. Kosta was recently nominated for his very first Emmy Award; he and his Daily Show colleagues—including Stewart, Lydic, Ronny Chieng, Jordan Klepper, and Dulcé Sloan—will compete for Outstanding Talk Series.

According to Comedy Central, Stewart will be back behind the desk on Monday, August 12.

The Daily Show airs Monday through Thursday at 11 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central, with episodes available on Paramount+ the next morning.
