Jimmy Kimmel Live! has added a new star to its previously announced lineup of summer hosts following a scheduling change.
Actress and comedian Tiffany Haddish is set to fill in for the vacationing Jimmy Kimmel during the show’s final week of guest hosts this summer—Monday, August 18th, through Thursday, August 21st.
Haddish follows Nicole Byer, who is hosting this week. The rotating summer format has become a JKL tradition, allowing for a mix of stand-ups, actors, and musicians to take a turn behind the desk while Kimmel takes his annual break.
Haddish was already a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live!’s first week of fill-ins this summer, appearing on one of Diego Luna’s episodes in her ninth visit to the show. While this marks her JKL hosting debut, Haddish previously subbed for Ellen DeGeneres on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2021 and 2022. The Emmy-winning star (for her 2018 SNL hosting gig) has built a career blending sharp stand-up with scene-stealing film roles, and is currently on the road with her “Funny and Fearless” comedy tour.
She replaces actor-comedian Kumail Nanjiani, who was among this summer’s guest hosts originally announced in June. Nanjiani’s absence is likely due to scheduling conflicts: he begins previews August 4th for his Broadway debut in Oh, Mary!, a dark comedy starring Jinkx Monsoon.
Fans can expect Haddish to bring her trademark high-energy humor, candid storytelling, and possibly a few surprise celebrity cameos during her four-night run. After August 21st, JKL will go dark for the rest of the month before Kimmel returns Tuesday, September 2nd, for four straight weeks of new episodes.
