Jimmy Kimmel Live! will be dark for two weeks starting tonight, but the show is already revealing plans for its return, with comedian Nicole Byer set to fill in for Jimmy Kimmel the week of August 11th-14th.
Byer is no stranger to the show. In addition to being a guest five times (most recently this past January, when she memorably sent Guillermo Rodriguez into hysterics), she’s also a returning guest host, having hosted an episode during Kimmel’s summer break in 2022.
Probably best known as the host of Nailed It! on Netflix, Byer will next appear on Long Story Short, a new Netflix adult animated series from Bojack Horseman creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg, premiering August 22nd.
Byer also hosts the podcast Why Won’t You Date Me?, which spent several years under Conan O’Brien’s Team Coco umbrella before returning to its original home at the HeadGum network last fall. A a recent episode featured JKL announcer Lou Wilson, who had to remind a forgetful Byer during the interview that they had once gone out on a date.
Byer’s other podcasts include Best Friends, which she cohosts with SNL alum Sasheer Zamata, and 90 Day Bae, a 90 Day Fiance recap show.
Jimmy Kimmel is expected to return to his namesake show Tuesday September 2nd. 2025 marks the fifth year he’s handed Jimmy Kimmel Live! over to guest hosts from late June through August while he and his family enjoy an extended summer break.
