With Jimmy Kimmel’s now-annual summer break kicking off next week, ABC has announced who will be filling infor the vacationing host, including a few familiar faces—and several newcomers who’ll be stepping behind the Jimmy Kimmel Live! desk for the first time.
Leading off the summer run is Andor star Diego Luna, who begins his hosting stint this coming Monday, June 23.
It will be Luna’s first time emceeing Kimmel, and the network is making the most of the Disney-ABC-Star Wars synergy. He’s set to open up the week on Monday with guest Patton Oswalt—an avowed Star Wars superfan—followed by appearances by two of Andor co-stars: Adria Arjona on Monday, followed by Alan Tudyk on Tuesday.
Luna’s guest list for the remainder of the week includes actors David Corenswet, Nicholas Hoult, Ariela Barer, and Emma Stone,
Others set to guest host for the first time this year will be Jelly Roll, Alan Cumming, Fortune Feimster, and Chris Distefano. (who recently appeared on The Daily Show as a contributor.)
Returning hosts Anthony Anderson, Nicole Byer, and Kumail Nanjiani are also on the docket.
Curiously, David Spade, who let slip that he was in talks to guest host this summer during an appearance with Kimmel last week, was not among the names in ABC’s announcement.
No dates have been announced for any of Kimmel’s guest hosts after Luna.
This will mark the fifth summer Kimmel has taken off, a break he first began during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. “There’s nothing wrong, I’m healthy, my family’s healthy,” he said at the time. “I just need a couple of months off.” He continued the tradition in 2021, 2022, and 2024. (Kimmel’s 2023 summer break coincided with the WGA and SAG strikes that shut down late-night production.)
Kimmel is expected to return to Jimmy Kimmel Live! after Labor Day.
